Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/HT/CLOT/V1

Duration: One Month.

Eligibility: 10+2 Grade (Higher Secondary) or Equivalent is required.

Objective: The Certified Laundry Operations Technician course is designed to equip participants with the technical skills and operational knowledge required to manage laundry services effectively. The course covers sorting and classification of laundry, stain treatment, washing and drying procedures, ironing and folding techniques, and the use and maintenance of commercial laundry equipment.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Laundry Operations: Role and responsibilities of a Laundry Operations Technician, Types of laundry services in hospitality and healthcare, Laundry workflow from collection to delivery, Classification of linen, uniforms, and guest garments, Coordination with housekeeping and other departments, Safety protocols and personal hygiene in laundry.

Module 2: Laundry Equipment and Machinery: Types of laundry machines (washers, dryers, flatwork ironers, presses), Functions and features of each machine, Operating procedures and safety measures, Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting, Loading and unloading techniques, Energy-efficient equipment usage.

Module 3: Washing Procedures and Fabric Care: Sorting and classifying laundry items by color, fabric, and soil level, Understanding wash cycles and machine settings, Detergents, chemicals, and dosage handling, Stain identification and pre-treatment techniques, Washing delicate and specialty items, Ensuring fabric longevity and color retention.

Module 4: Drying, Ironing, and Finishing: Types of dryers and drying cycles, Folding and stacking methods for linen and garments, Ironing and pressing techniques for various fabrics, Use of steam presses, flatwork ironers, and hand irons, Finishing touches and garment presentation, Inspection and quality control before delivery.

Module 5: Laundry Record Keeping and Inventory Management: Maintaining laundry logs and processing records, Tracking guest laundry and uniform issuance, Monitoring linen usage and replacement cycles, Inventory control of chemicals, tags, and linen stock, Reporting damaged or lost items, Coordinating with suppliers for stock replenishment.

Module 6: Quality Standards, Environmental Practices, and Customer Service: Ensuring quality assurance through inspections, Waste management and water recycling practices, Using eco-friendly detergents and energy-saving techniques, Adhering to hygiene and infection control standards, Handling guest queries and special laundry instructions, Continuous improvement and feedback integration.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
