Objective: The Certified Power Plant Safety Engineer course aims to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of occupational health and safety practices specific to power plant environments. The course emphasizes hazard identification, risk assessment, fire and electrical safety, safety audits, emergency response planning, and compliance with national and international safety standards such as OSHA, NFPA, and ISO 45001.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Power Plant Fundamentals and Safety Overview: Power generation types and classifications, Basic power plant operations, Introduction to power plant safety standards (OSHA/IS-18001/NFPA), Common hazards in thermal, hydro, and nuclear plants, Role and responsibilities of a safety engineer, Safety documentation and compliance.

Module 2: Mechanical and Electrical Safety Systems: Boiler safety devices and protection systems, Turbine safety mechanisms and interlocks, Electrical isolation procedures and arc flash protection, Emergency shutdown systems (ESD), Preventive and predictive maintenance safety, Lockout-tagout (LOTO) practices.

Module 3: Fire and Explosion Safety Management: Types and causes of fires in power plants, Fire detection and suppression systems (sprinklers, gas systems), Explosion-proof equipment and zoning, Combustible dust hazard assessment and mitigation, Fire drills and emergency evacuation planning, NFPA standards relevant to power plants.

Module 4: Occupational Health and Environmental Safety: Noise, heat, and chemical exposure in power plants, Personal protective equipment (PPE) use and management, Ergonomics and manual handling in confined spaces, Hazardous waste management and disposal, Water and air pollution control measures, Occupational health surveillance and medical check-ups.

Module 5: Risk Assessment and Safety Audits: Hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA), Job safety analysis (JSA) and permit to work (PTW) systems, Root cause analysis and accident investigation, Safety audit planning and reporting, Behavior-based safety (BBS) and safety culture promotion, Legal frameworks and liability in industrial safety.

Module 6: Emergency Response and Disaster Management: Types of emergencies in power plants, On-site and off-site emergency planning, Crisis communication and control room coordination, Mock drills and incident command system (ICS), Coordination with local authorities and mutual aid, Post-incident recovery and review process.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.

  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
