Course Name: Certified Air Ticketing Executive

Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/HT/CATE/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Air Ticketing Executive course is designed to equip professionals with comprehensive knowledge and skills required for efficient airline ticketing and reservation management. The program covers airline fare construction, ticketing procedures, global distribution systems (GDS), airline policies, itinerary planning, fare rules, passenger documentation, and customer service standards.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Air Ticketing and Aviation Industry: Overview of the global aviation industry and IATA functions, Role and responsibilities of an Air Ticketing Executive, Types of airlines: full-service, low-cost, charter, and regional carriers, Basic airline terminology, airport codes, and aviation abbreviations, Understanding airline alliances and global distribution networks, Evolution of air ticketing: from manual to digital systems.

Module 2: Airline Reservation Systems and GDS Platforms: Introduction to major GDS platforms: Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo, and Worldspan, Creating, retrieving, and updating Passenger Name Records (PNRs), Availability search, flight selection, seat assignment, and meal preferences, Waitlist management, class codes, and fare basis understanding, Hands-on practice in GDS formats for reservation and pricing, Queue management and message handling in the GDS environment.

Module 3: Fare Construction and Ticketing Procedures: Understanding airfare types: published fares, consolidator fares, and negotiated fares, IATA fare construction rules, mileage concepts, and journey types (OW, RT, CT), Tax codes, surcharges, and currency conversion (ROE), Manual and automated fare quoting and ticketing in GDS, Electronic ticketing (E-ticket) and its formats (ETR), Revalidation, reissuance, and cancellation procedures.

Module 4: Passport, Visa, and Travel Documentation: Types of passports and their importance in international travel, Visa types, processes, and transit visa requirements, Travel documents: tickets, itineraries, boarding passes, insurance, and vaccination, Entry, exit, and transit regulations of major countries, Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and Secure Flight Program, Handling denied boarding, deportation, and no-fly list cases.

Module 5: Airport Procedures and Customer Service: Check-in procedures: web, kiosk, and counter check-ins, Baggage policies: allowances, excess baggage, and special items, Boarding process, transit assistance, and arrival formalities, Customer service principles in air ticketing and aviation support, Managing disruptions: delays, cancellations, rebooking, and upgrades, Handling complaints, refunds, and special assistance requests.

Module 6: Travel Technology, Trends, and Career Growth: Introduction to travel apps, e-ticketing portals, and mobile boarding, Airline ticketing APIs and online booking engines (OTAs), Cybersecurity, fraud detection, and digital payment systems in ticketing, Trends: NDC (New Distribution Capability), dynamic packaging, AI in travel, Soft skills: communication, upselling, multitasking for air ticketing professionals, Career paths in airlines, travel agencies, consolidators, and GDS companies.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
