Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/HF/CAI/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Aerobics Instructor course is designed to equip fitness professionals with the skills and knowledge to lead safe, effective, and engaging group aerobics classes. The program covers cardiovascular training principles, choreography design, class formatting (low-impact, high-impact, step aerobics, dance aerobics), cueing techniques, music selection, warm-up and cool-down protocols, and safety guidelines.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Aerobics and Instructor Role: History and evolution of aerobics as a fitness discipline, Types of aerobics: low-impact, high-impact, step, dance-based, cardio kickboxing, Roles and responsibilities of a certified aerobics instructor, Understanding target audiences and class types, Benefits of aerobic exercise on cardiovascular and overall health, Professional ethics and safety responsibilities in group fitness.

Module 2: Anatomy, Physiology, and Exercise Science Fundamentals: Basic understanding of muscles, bones, and joints involved in aerobic movement, Cardiovascular and respiratory system response to aerobic exercise, Energy systems used during aerobic workouts (aerobic vs anaerobic), Principles of overload, specificity, progression, and recovery, Understanding heart rate zones, RPE scale, and caloric expenditure, Injury prevention through proper warm-up, form, and cool-down.

Module 3: Class Structure, Choreography, and Music Coordination: Components of a standard aerobics class: warm-up, cardio peak, strength, cool-down, Building routines with base moves: grapevine, step touch, knee lifts, etc., Choreography planning: 32-count phrasing and block construction, Music selection and BPM matching for different class intensities, Using transitions, layers, and directional changes for creativity, Teaching rhythm, flow, and tempo control in routines.

Module 4: Cueing, Coaching, and Communication Skills: Verbal and non-verbal cueing techniques for clear instruction, Demonstrating proper form and movement modifications, Motivational coaching to keep participants engaged and safe, Voice projection, facial expression, and body language in class delivery, Providing feedback and corrections while maintaining energy, Leading different participant levels in a single group class.

Module 5: Special Populations, Safety, and Emergency Readiness: Modifying movements for seniors, pregnant women, beginners, and clients with limitations, Recognizing signs of fatigue, overexertion, and dehydration, Creating low-impact options for joint or mobility issues, Safety checks: space, floor surface, footwear, and ventilation, Emergency protocols and basic first aid for group fitness settings, Legal liability, waivers, and professional insurance basics.

Module 6: Professional Development, Class Management, and Career Opportunities: Planning weekly and monthly aerobic class schedules, Marketing your classes in gyms, studios, or online platforms, Participant retention, feedback collection, and class improvement, Building a personal brand as an aerobics instructor, Exploring additional certifications and continuing education, Opportunities in corporate fitness, wellness retreats, and fitness events.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
