Module 1: Introduction to Hospital Store and Purchase Management: Role and responsibilities of a store and purchase manager in a hospital, Types of medical and non-medical items used in healthcare facilities, Understanding hospital supply chain structure, Importance of inventory and procurement in patient care, Overview of purchase policies and procedures, Coordination with departments and vendors.

Module 2: Procurement Planning and Purchasing Procedures: Forecasting demand and planning procurement schedules, Creating purchase requisitions and managing approvals, Vendor selection, negotiation, and contract finalization, E-procurement systems and tendering processes, Cost-effective purchasing strategies and budget control, Documentation and purchase order management.

Module 3: Inventory Management and Control Systems: Types of inventories in hospitals (consumables, durables, critical care items), Inventory classification techniques (ABC, VED, FSN analysis), Stock level determination (reorder level, safety stock, EOQ), Use of inventory control software and barcode systems, Regular physical stock verification and reconciliation, Disposal of expired, obsolete or damaged stock.

Module 4: Storage, Handling and Distribution of Hospital Supplies: Design and layout of hospital store rooms, Storage requirements for medicines, sterile items, and equipment, FIFO and FEFO principles in inventory rotation, Temperature-controlled storage and cold chain maintenance, Safe handling of medical gases and hazardous items, Internal distribution systems to various hospital units.

Module 5: Quality Assurance, Compliance and Audits: Inspection and quality checks of incoming materials, Ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (NABH, ISO), Maintaining documentation and records for traceability, Internal and external audit preparation and response, Managing supplier performance and product quality feedback, Handling complaints, recalls, and returns effectively.

Module 6: Leadership, Communication and Technology in Store Management: Supervising store staff and assigning roles/responsibilities, Communication with clinical, pharmacy, finance and maintenance teams, Training and motivating staff on SOPs and safety practices, Integration of ERP and hospital management information systems (HMIS), Generating reports, KPIs, and purchase analytics, Career development and continuous learning in hospital materials management.
