Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/TL/CFB/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Freight Broker course is designed to prepare individuals to operate as professional intermediaries between shippers and carriers, facilitating the movement of goods in an efficient, legal, and profitable manner. The course covers core topics such as freight brokerage operations, legal and regulatory compliance (FMCSA, DOT, licensing), contract negotiation, load matching, carrier selection, rate calculation, and freight documentation. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Freight Brokering: Role and Responsibilities of a Freight Broker, Differences Between Brokers, Carriers, and Freight Forwarders, Overview of Freight Brokerage Industry, Understanding the Supply Chain and Logistics Ecosystem, Key Stakeholders in Freight Transactions, Ethics and Professional Conduct in Brokering.

Module 2: Licensing, Legal, and Regulatory Requirements: FMCSA and DOT Registration Process, Obtaining a Freight Broker License (MC Number), Surety Bonds and Insurance Requirements, Broker-Carrier Agreements and Contracts, Legal Liabilities and Risk Mitigation, Regulatory Compliance and Record-Keeping.

Module 3: Freight Operations and Carrier Management: Finding and Qualifying Carriers, Carrier Onboarding and Safety Compliance, Rate Negotiation and Load Matching, Load Boards and Digital Freight Platforms, Tracking Shipments and Managing Delays, Carrier Relationship and Performance Management.

Module 4: Shipper Relations and Load Booking: Identifying and Approaching Potential Shippers, Building and Maintaining Shipper Relationships, Understanding Freight Requirements and Service Expectations, Load Pricing and Quoting Strategies, Booking and Confirming Loads, Customer Service and Communication Best Practices.

Module 5: Documentation and Financial Processes: Essential Freight Documents (BOL, Rate Confirmation, POD), Invoicing Procedures and Payment Collection, Freight Factoring and Credit Management, Costing and Margin Calculation, Software Tools for Documentation and Finance, Dispute Resolution and Claims Handling.

Module 6: Technology, Marketing, and Business Growth: TMS and CRM Software for Freight Brokers, Online Load Boards and Digital Freight Matching Tools, Marketing Strategies for Freight Brokerage Business, Building a Strong Brand and Online Presence, Scaling Operations and Team Management, Trends and Innovations in Freight Brokerage Industry.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
