Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/FS/CMHT/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Manual Handling Trainer course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and instructional skills required to teach safe manual handling practices across various work environments. The course covers the anatomy of the spine, common manual handling injuries, ergonomic principles, risk assessment, safe lifting and carrying techniques, use of mechanical aids, and legal responsibilities under health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, ISO 11228, and Manual Handling Operations Regulations).

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Manual Handling and Trainer Responsibilities: Definition and types of manual handling tasks, Importance of safe manual handling in the workplace, Overview of common injuries (MSDs, strains, sprains), Legal and regulatory requirements (OSH, Ergonomics standards), Role and responsibilities of a Manual Handling Trainer, Ethical and professional conduct in training delivery.

Module 2: Anatomy, Ergonomics, and Risk Factors: Basic musculoskeletal anatomy relevant to manual handling, Understanding body mechanics and posture, Risk factors: load, task, environment, and individual capabilities, Ergonomic principles for safe lifting and carrying, Signs and symptoms of manual handling injuries, Preventive strategies to reduce physical strain.

Module 3: Manual Handling Techniques and Equipment: Safe lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, and carrying techniques, Team lifting and coordination protocols, Use of mechanical aids: trolleys, hoists, lift-assist devices, Load assessment and planning for movement, PPE selection and usage in manual handling tasks, Practical demonstrations and supervised practice.

Module 4: Training Methods, Delivery, and Learner Engagement: Adult learning principles and communication skills for trainers, Designing lesson plans and learning objectives, Interactive methods: demonstrations, group discussions, case studies, Managing group dynamics and individual learning needs, Use of visual aids, videos, and handling props, Providing feedback and coaching during practical sessions.

Module 5: Assessment, Evaluation, and Feedback: Designing written and practical assessments, Conducting performance evaluations and observation checklists, Gathering and analyzing learner feedback, Measuring training effectiveness using key metrics, Addressing skill gaps and corrective training, Certification requirements and documentation.

Module 6: Compliance, Program Review, and Continuous Improvement: Maintaining training records and audit readiness, Ensuring compliance with workplace safety policies and standards, Reviewing and updating training content periodically, Supervising on-the-job application and follow-up coaching, Promoting a manual handling safety culture across departments, Incorporating lessons from incidents and near-misses into training.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
