Objective: The Certified Lifting & Rigging Safety Specialist course is designed to provide participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary to manage lifting and rigging activities safely in construction, industrial, and marine environments. The course covers lifting principles, types of cranes and hoists, rigging equipment (slings, shackles, hooks), load calculation, center of gravity determination, equipment inspection, and proper signaling methods. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Lifting and Rigging Operations: Introduction to lifting and rigging safety, Definitions and key terminologies (load, sling, rigging gear, center of gravity), Types of lifting operations (manual, mechanical, critical lifts), Basic physics of lifting: force, balance, and stability, Common hazards and accident causes in lifting activities, Roles and responsibilities of riggers, signalers, and lifting supervisors.

Module 2: Rigging Equipment and Accessories: Types of slings: wire rope, chain, synthetic, webbing, Shackles, hooks, eyebolts, turnbuckles, lifting beams and spreader bars, Identification, labeling, and color coding of lifting gear, Selection of rigging equipment based on load and configuration, Equipment inspection, rejection criteria, and tagging procedures, Safe storage and handling of rigging gear.

Module 3: Lifting Tools, Machines, and Load Handling Equipment: Types of lifting machinery: cranes, hoists, forklifts, winches, jacks, Load charts, lifting capacity, and stability factors, Use of lifting appliances with rated load indicators and limit switches, Lifting gear configuration and connection practices, Calculating sling angles, load sharing, and working load limits (WLL), Pre-use checks and safe operating procedures.

Module 4: Safe Lifting Procedures and Planning: Lift planning and documentation: lifting plan, risk assessment, and toolbox talk, Load weight estimation, center of gravity, and lifting point identification, Sling angle calculations and tension load estimation, Use of tag lines, barriers, and exclusion zones, Hand signals, radio communication, and coordination techniques, Permit to work system for lifting activities.

Module 5: Inspection, Maintenance, and Legal Compliance: Routine inspection schedules and checklists, Criteria for discarding damaged rigging equipment, Documentation of inspections, maintenance logs, and certifications, National and international safety standards (OSHA, ASME B30, IS codes), Third-party inspection and certification requirements, Compliance with statutory requirements and audit readiness.

Module 6: Incident Response, Training, and Case Studies: Investigation of lifting and rigging-related accidents and near misses, Root cause analysis and preventive measures, Emergency response and rescue procedures for lifting failures, Training needs assessment and competency-based training delivery, Worker awareness, signage, and safety briefings, Real-life case studies and lessons learned from lifting incidents.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
