Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Chair Yoga Instructor course is designed to train yoga professionals to adapt traditional yoga practices for individuals with limited mobility, seniors, office workers, or those recovering from injury using a chair for support. The course covers safe and effective ways to modify asanas, breathing techniques (pranayama), and relaxation practices so they can be performed seated or with chair assistance.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Chair Yoga: Definition and scope of chair yoga, History and evolution of chair yoga, Benefits for seniors and those with limited mobility, Chair yoga vs. traditional yoga, Role of a certified chair yoga instructor, Safety precautions and contraindications.

Module 2: Anatomy & Physiology for Chair Yoga: Musculoskeletal system and aging, Common conditions affecting mobility, Impact of chronic illness on movement, Joint-friendly movement principles, Breath and circulation in seated practices, Understanding individual physical limitations.

Module 3: Chair Yoga Asanas & Movement: Seated and supported standing poses, Spinal mobility and core engagement, Shoulder, hip, and joint exercises, Balance and coordination techniques, Chair sun salutations and modified flows, Relaxation and cool-down stretches.

Module 4: Breathwork, Mindfulness & Meditation: Breath awareness and seated pranayama, Techniques for calming the nervous system, Guided meditation and visualization, Seated Yoga Nidra and deep relaxation, Mindfulness practices for stress reduction, Integrating breath with movement.

Module 5: Teaching Methodology & Class Planning: Designing inclusive chair yoga classes, Adapting practices for different populations, Use of props like straps, blocks, and resistance bands, Verbal cueing and non-touch adjustments, Managing mixed-ability group classes, Sequencing for short and long sessions.

Module 6: Practical Application & Professional Skills: Conducting demo sessions and peer feedback, Teaching in senior centers, offices, and therapy settings, Ethics and boundaries in therapeutic settings, Communication with students and caregivers, Case studies and class documentation, Certification assessment and continuing education.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
