Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Adaptive Yoga Trainer (for Disabilities) course is designed to prepare yoga professionals to safely and compassionately adapt yoga practices for individuals with physical, cognitive, sensory, or neurological disabilities. The course provides a deep understanding of inclusive yoga principles, disability awareness, and functional anatomy, along with practical skills to modify asanas, pranayama, and meditation to suit different abilities and mobility levels. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Adaptive Yoga for Disabilities: Understanding the concept and importance of Adaptive Yoga, The role of Yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being for individuals with disabilities, Overview of different disabilities (physical, intellectual, sensory, mental health) and their impact on movement, Creating inclusive Yoga environments and fostering accessibility, The principles of individualized Yoga practices for various disabilities, Ethical considerations and sensitivity in working with people with disabilities.

Module 2: Anatomy and Physiology of Disabilities: Understanding the physical, neurological, and cognitive aspects of disabilities, Common conditions affecting mobility, strength, balance, and coordination (e.g., cerebral palsy, stroke, muscular dystrophy), The role of the central nervous system and brain in movement and sensation, Modifying Yoga postures for different mobility limitations and functional abilities, Addressing muscle tone, spasticity, and range of motion in adaptive Yoga, How sensory impairments (visual, auditory, etc.) affect Yoga practice and modifications.

Module 3: Adaptive Yoga Postures and Modifications: Basic Yoga postures (Asanas) and how to adapt them for different disabilities, Using props (blocks, straps, chairs, wall support) to make postures accessible, Techniques for supporting balance, stability, and flexibility in adaptive Yoga, How to modify standing, seated, and supine poses for students with limited mobility, The role of assistive devices and how they can enhance Yoga practice, Tailoring poses to improve functional strength, flexibility, and mental clarity.

Module 4: Breathing, Relaxation, and Pranayama for Disabilities: The role of breath in Adaptive Yoga for individuals with disabilities, Pranayama techniques adapted for respiratory conditions, sensory impairments, or limited movement, Techniques for relaxation and stress relief through conscious breathing, Using breath awareness to improve focus, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall well-being, Modifying breathwork for individuals with limited lung capacity or breath restrictions, Guided relaxation techniques (e.g., Yoga Nidra) for deep rest and rejuvenation in adaptive practice.

Module 5: Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being in Adaptive Yoga: The impact of Yoga on mental health, emotional regulation, and cognitive function for individuals with disabilities, Techniques for promoting mindfulness, concentration, and emotional balance, Addressing the psychological aspects of living with disability (self-esteem, depression, anxiety), Creating a compassionate, supportive space for students to explore their bodies and emotions, Yoga practices for stress reduction, body awareness, and building self-empowerment, The importance of positive reinforcement and encouragement in building confidence.

Module 6: Teaching Adaptive Yoga and Building a Specialized Practice: How to design and lead Yoga classes for individuals with disabilities (group classes, one-on-one sessions), Assessing the needs and goals of each student to create personalized Yoga plans, Effective communication techniques for teaching individuals with various disabilities, How to work with caregivers, healthcare providers, and other professionals in adaptive Yoga programs, Developing a Yoga business or community program focused on disability inclusion, Continuing education, professional development, and self-care for adaptive Yoga instructors.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
