Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The objective of the Certified Vipassana Meditation Facilitator course is to provide participants with a deep understanding of the philosophy, principles, and practice of Vipassana meditation as taught in traditional Buddhist and contemporary settings. This course aims to develop skilled facilitators capable of guiding others through the process of self-observation, mindfulness, and insight cultivation. Participants will learn the historical roots of Vipassana, the role of Sati (mindfulness) and Samadhi (concentration), the practice of observing sensations without reaction, and how to hold silent and structured sessions. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Module 1: Introduction to Vipassana Meditation: History and origins of Vipassana meditation, Key principles of Vipassana (insight and awareness), The role of Vipassana in Buddhist practice and modern mindfulness, Understanding the distinction between Samatha (concentration) and Vipassana (insight), The benefits of Vipassana for mental clarity, emotional balance, and stress reduction, The concept of impermanence (anicca) and the Three Marks of Existence.

Module 2: Core Techniques and Practice of Vipassana: The practice of observing sensations and the impermanence of bodily experiences, How to maintain awareness of breath and sensations, Developing mindfulness of body, feelings, and mind, Understanding the Three Trainings: Sila (moral conduct), Samadhi (concentration), and Panna (wisdom), Techniques for cultivating equanimity (upekkha) during meditation, Introduction to the Four Foundations of Mindfulness (Satipatthana).

Module 3: The Role of the Facilitator in Vipassana Meditation: The ethical responsibilities of a Vipassana facilitator, Creating a safe and conducive environment for meditation, The importance of self-practice and personal insight in teaching, Developing deep listening and empathy as a facilitator, Guiding students through difficult emotions and physical discomfort during practice, Addressing common misconceptions and doubts in Vipassana practice.

Module 4: Guiding Students in Vipassana Meditation: How to introduce Vipassana meditation to beginners, Step-by-step instructions for guiding mindfulness of breath and sensations, Techniques for guiding students through deeper states of awareness, Supporting students in overcoming mental hindrances (desire, aversion, sloth, restlessness, doubt), How to use mindful inquiry and self-reflection in group meditation, Offering personalized feedback and troubleshooting common obstacles in practice.

Module 5: Advanced Practices in Vipassana Meditation: Understanding the deeper insights developed through Vipassana (impermanence, suffering, non-self), The development of “right view” and “right understanding” in meditation, Exploring the practice of “noting” and its role in insight, The application of mindfulness in daily life outside of formal practice, Cultivating deep states of concentration (jhana) to enhance insight, Exploring the integration of wisdom and compassion in advanced practice.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
