Objective: The Certificate in Sustainable Materials Management course is designed to provide professionals with in-depth knowledge of environmentally responsible materials used in construction, manufacturing, and product design. The course covers material life cycle assessment (LCA), embodied carbon analysis, sourcing strategies, recyclability, certifications (e.g., Cradle to Cradle, FSC, EPD), and their impact on human health and environmental performance.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Sustainability and Materials Science: Principles of sustainability, Life cycle thinking and circular economy, Introduction to materials science, Material properties and classifications, Environmental impact of materials, Global sustainability goals and standards.

Module 2: Sustainable Materials and Alternatives: Biodegradable and compostable materials, Recycled and reclaimed materials, Bio-based polymers and composites, Low-carbon cement and green concrete, Sustainable wood and bamboo, Innovative eco-materials (e.g., mycelium, hempcrete).

Module 3: Material Selection and Assessment Tools: Material selection criteria for sustainability, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Embodied carbon and energy analysis, Material health and toxicity assessment, Green certification systems (LEED, BREEAM).

Module 4: Applications in Construction and Manufacturing: Sustainable building materials and systems, Eco-design for manufacturing, Additive manufacturing with green materials, Material efficiency in industrial design, Retrofitting and material reuse in construction, Modular and prefabricated systems.

Module 5: Policies, Standards, and Supply Chains: International sustainability standards (ISO, ASTM), Sustainable procurement practices, Supply chain traceability and transparency, Extended producer responsibility (EPR), Environmental regulations and material compliance, Ethical sourcing and labor standards.

Module 6: Innovation, Trends, and Professional Practice: Current trends in sustainable materials, Smart and responsive materials, Nanomaterials and environmental safety, Collaboration with architects and engineers, Project documentation and reporting, Career pathways and industry roles.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
