Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/FS/CAPS/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Accident Prevention Specialist course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop and lead effective accident prevention programs in industrial, construction, and commercial environments. The course covers hazard identification, risk assessment, job safety analysis (JSA), unsafe acts and conditions, near-miss reporting, safety inspections, and safety culture enhancement.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Accident Prevention and Safety Management: Definition and significance of accident prevention, Types of workplace accidents and common causes, Principles of accident causation and prevention models (Heinrich’s Triangle, Domino Theory), Legal obligations and regulatory standards (OSHA, ISO 45001), Roles and responsibilities of an Accident Prevention Specialist, Integration of accident prevention in safety management systems.

Module 2: Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Methods of hazard identification: inspections, observations, checklists, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) techniques, Risk matrix and risk prioritization strategies, Human factors contributing to hazards and incidents, Use of technology (sensors, software) in hazard detection, Documentation and communication of risk assessments.

Module 3: Accident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis: Steps in systematic accident investigation process, Data collection techniques: interviews, evidence gathering, photographs, Tools for root cause analysis: 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, Fault Tree Analysis, Determining direct, indirect, and root causes, Developing corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA), Reporting and documentation of investigation findings.

Module 4: Preventive Strategies and Control Measures: Hierarchy of controls: elimination, substitution, engineering, administrative, PPE implementation and monitoring, Designing safe work procedures and instructions, Preventive maintenance and safety engineering controls, Implementation of safety signage and visual management, Case studies on effective accident prevention methods.

Module 5: Safety Culture, Training, and Behavioral Approaches: Building a proactive safety culture and worker engagement, Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) strategies to reduce accidents, Safety training programs and awareness campaigns, Toolbox talks, induction programs, and refresher training, Motivating safe behavior and discouraging risk-taking, Communication strategies for reinforcing safe practices.

Module 6: Monitoring, Auditing, and Continuous Improvement: Safety inspections and audit planning for prevention focus, Leading and lagging indicators for accident analysis, Using KPIs to measure prevention effectiveness, Implementation of safety improvement initiatives and follow-up, Reviewing incident trends for proactive prevention planning, Promoting continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practices.
