The course trains participants in using various visual art mediums—such as drawing, painting, collage, and clay work—to facilitate self-expression, stress reduction, trauma processing, and personal growth. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Art Therapy and Its Principles: Definition, goals, and scope of art therapy, History and evolution of art as a therapeutic tool, Distinction between art therapy and recreational art, Roles and responsibilities of an art therapy practitioner, Ethical guidelines and boundaries in practice, Understanding diverse client populations and settings.

Module 2: Psychology of Art and Human Expression: Basic psychological theories related to creativity and self-expression, Role of unconscious and symbolism in art, Emotional processing through visual media, Developmental stages of art expression in children and adults, Impact of trauma and mental health on art production, Cultural sensitivity in interpreting art.

Module 3: Art Therapy Techniques and Modalities: Drawing, painting, collage, clay, and mixed media techniques, Guided imagery and narrative art exercises, Mandala making, mask creation, and visual journaling, Process-focused vs product-focused approaches, Adapting techniques for various age groups and needs, Non-verbal communication through art.

Module 4: Assessment and Therapeutic Goal Setting: Conducting intake and understanding client history, Observing artistic expression for emotional and cognitive cues, Developing therapeutic goals: emotional, social, behavioral, and cognitive, Creating structured and unstructured art sessions, Monitoring progress and client responses, Documentation and reflection methods.

Module 5: Applications in Clinical, Educational and Community Settings: Art therapy for children with special needs (e.g., autism, ADHD), Using art with individuals facing anxiety, depression, or trauma, Geriatric art therapy for cognitive support and social engagement, Integrating art in schools and inclusive education programs, Community-based art therapy for empowerment and healing, Supporting self-esteem, grief processing, and personal growth.

Module 6: Professional Practice and Self-Care for Practitioners: Setting up an art therapy environment and managing materials, Communicating with clients, families, and healthcare teams, Confidentiality, consent, and client safety practices, Importance of supervision and reflective practice, Managing emotional boundaries and practitioner burnout, Continuing education, certifications, and career pathways in art therapy.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.

  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
