Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).
Objective: The Certified Biosafety Officer course is designed to provide comprehensive training in biosafety principles, risk assessment, and containment strategies for handling biohazardous materials. The course focuses on biosafety levels (BSL-1 to BSL-4), laboratory design requirements, use of biological safety cabinets, sterilization and disinfection procedures, emergency response planning, and waste management of biological materials.
Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:
Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.
Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.
Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.
Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.
Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.
Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.
Assessment Modules:
Module 1: Introduction to Biosafety and Biosafety Officer Roles: Overview of biosafety principles and objectives, Roles and responsibilities of a biosafety officer, Biosafety levels (BSL-1 to BSL-4) and laboratory classification, Regulatory frameworks and guidelines (WHO, CDC, NIH, local regulations), Ethical and legal aspects of biosafety, Establishing a biosafety culture and management commitment.
Module 2: Biological Hazards and Risk Assessment: Classification of biological agents and infectious materials, Routes of transmission and exposure, Conducting biosafety risk assessments, Control measures for biological hazards, Identification of emerging biological threats, Personal protective equipment (PPE) selection and use.
Module 3: Containment and Laboratory Practices: Design and operation of containment facilities, Use and maintenance of biological safety cabinets (BSCs), Safe microbiological practices and procedures, Decontamination and sterilization methods, Waste management of biohazardous materials, Handling and transport of infectious substances.
Module 4: Emergency Preparedness and Incident Management: Biosafety incident types and reporting protocols, Emergency response planning and coordination, Spill response and containment procedures, Exposure incidents and medical evaluation, Communication and documentation during emergencies, Training and drills for biosafety emergencies.
Module 5: Training, Auditing, and Compliance: Developing and implementing biosafety training programs, Conducting biosafety audits and inspections, Recordkeeping and documentation for compliance, Compliance with national and international biosafety standards, Corrective actions and continuous improvement, Collaboration with regulatory agencies and institutional committees.
Module 6: Advances in Biosafety and Emerging Technologies: Emerging biosafety challenges and global trends, Advances in diagnostic and containment technologies, Genetic engineering and synthetic biology safety considerations, Risk assessment for new biological agents, Application of digital tools in biosafety management, Promoting biosafety in research and public health sectors.

- Duration- 60 minutes.
- Number of Questions- 30.
- Number of Questions from each module: 5.
- Language: English.
- Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
- Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
