Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/TL/CFO/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Forklift Operator course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to operate various types of forklifts (counterbalance, reach truck, pallet jack, etc.) in industrial and warehouse settings. The course covers forklift components and controls, operational procedures, load handling techniques, stability and center of gravity, pre-use inspections, refueling/recharging, maneuvering in tight spaces, and proper stacking/unstacking. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Forklift Operations and Types: Overview of forklift functions in material handling and logistics, Types of forklifts: counterbalance, reach trucks, pallet jacks, rough terrain, telescopic handlers, Components and controls of a forklift: mast, forks, carriage, overhead guard, tires, Understanding forklift load capacities and rating plates, Role and responsibilities of a certified forklift operator, Regulatory standards and guidelines (OSHA, ISO, local laws).

Module 2: Pre-Operational Checks and Safety Inspections: Daily pre-start inspection checklist: brakes, tires, mast, fluid levels, Fork condition, lights, horns, seat belts, and backup alarms, Reporting and tagging out defective forklifts, Understanding the importance of documentation and inspection logs, Battery charging and fuel handling safety, Ensuring readiness of PPE and emergency equipment before operation.

Module 3: Safe Driving and Maneuvering Techniques: Starting, steering, and stopping procedures on different surfaces, Proper use of hand and audible signals during movement, Navigating narrow aisles, ramps, loading docks, and blind corners, Safe operation in wet, uneven, or congested environments, Reversing techniques and maintaining clear visibility, Seat belt use and maintaining three points of contact.

Module 4: Load Handling, Stacking, and Unloading Procedures: Assessing load size, weight, and stability before lifting, Proper fork positioning, tilt control, and mast adjustments, Lifting, lowering, stacking, and unstacking loads safely, Operating at various heights and load centers, Securing loads and preventing shifting or falling during transport, Working with pallets, containers, and non-standard load shapes.

Module 5: Workplace Hazards, Emergency Situations, and Compliance: Identifying common hazards: overhead obstructions, pedestrians, spills, ramps, Collision avoidance and maintaining safe distances, Emergency procedures: power failure, tip-overs, fire, and first aid, Forklift parking protocols and securing when not in use, Legal penalties for non-compliance and unsafe practices, Understanding employer and operator responsibilities under safety laws.

Module 6: Hands-On Practical Training and Certification Assessment: Live demonstration of forklift controls and operational skills, Practical driving exercises: figure-eight, pallet stacking, loading dock work, Simulated hazard scenarios and safe response techniques, Final performance evaluation on safety, efficiency, and precision, Written test on theory and safety knowledge, Certification issuance upon successful completion of assessment.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
