Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Children’s Book Publisher course is designed to provide participants with specialized knowledge and skills to successfully publish children’s books across print and digital formats. The course covers the unique aspects of children’s literature including age-appropriate content, illustration integration, storytelling styles, and educational value. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Children’s Book Publishing: Overview of the children’s book market and industry trends, Types and genres of children’s books (picture books, early readers, middle grade), Understanding child development and age-appropriate content, Key players in children’s publishing (authors, illustrators, editors, agents), Publishing workflows specific to children’s books, Ethical considerations and content sensitivity.

Module 2: Manuscript and Illustration Development: Evaluating and acquiring manuscripts for children’s books, Working with authors and illustrators, Storyboarding and dummy book creation, Illustration styles and techniques for children’s books, Coordinating text and image integration, Editing for clarity, language, and age suitability.

Module 3: Design, Layout, and Production: Book design principles for children’s books, Page layout, typography, and color use, Print specifications and paper quality considerations, Production process and timelines, Working with printers and manufacturers, Quality control and proofing specific to illustrated books.

Module 4: Rights Management and Licensing: Understanding rights specific to children’s publishing (translation, merchandise, adaptation), Licensing and subsidiary rights management, Collaborating with agents and licensors, Contract negotiation and royalties, Managing foreign rights sales, Protecting intellectual property and copyrights.

Module 5: Marketing and Distribution Strategies: Target audience identification and market segmentation, Creating marketing plans tailored for children’s books, School and library outreach programs, Author events and school visits, Leveraging social media and influencer partnerships, Distribution channels including bookstores, online retailers, and educational suppliers.

Module 6: Trends, Challenges, and Career Development: Emerging trends in children’s publishing (diversity, digital formats, interactive books), Addressing challenges like censorship and cultural sensitivity, Sustainability in children’s book production, Building professional networks and industry affiliations, Career pathways in children’s publishing, Continuing education and lifelong learning.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
