Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/FS/CCAS/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Climate Adaptation Specialist course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to assess climate risks and design effective adaptation strategies across various sectors. The course covers climate science fundamentals, vulnerability and impact assessments, adaptation planning frameworks, ecosystem-based and community-based adaptation, and integration of adaptation into policy and development planning. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Climate Change and Adaptation: Basics of climate science and global warming, Causes and impacts of climate change, Difference between mitigation and adaptation, Importance of climate adaptation for resilience, Key international frameworks (UNFCCC, IPCC, Paris Agreement), Role and responsibilities of a Climate Adaptation Specialist.

Module 2: Vulnerability and Risk Assessment: Concepts of vulnerability, exposure, and adaptive capacity, Tools and methods for climate risk assessment, Community-based vulnerability assessment techniques, Use of climate models and scenario planning, Sector-specific vulnerability (agriculture, water, health, infrastructure), Mapping and prioritizing adaptation needs.

Module 3: Climate Adaptation Strategies and Planning: Types of adaptation (anticipatory, reactive, incremental, transformational), Structural and non-structural adaptation measures, Mainstreaming adaptation into development planning, Climate-resilient infrastructure and ecosystem-based approaches, Urban and rural adaptation strategies, Stakeholder engagement in adaptation planning.

Module 4: Climate-Resilient Sectors and Case Studies: Adaptation in agriculture and food security, Water resources management and flood control, Public health and climate-resilient healthcare systems, Disaster risk reduction and early warning systems, Infrastructure and urban planning for resilience, Global and local case studies of successful adaptation.

Module 5: Policy, Governance, and Financing Adaptation: National and subnational climate adaptation policies, Institutional frameworks and governance mechanisms, Integration of adaptation into policy and planning, Climate finance mechanisms (GCF, Adaptation Fund, NAP), Public-private partnerships for adaptation projects, Monitoring, evaluation, and accountability in adaptation.

Module 6: Tools, Technologies, and Future Trends in Adaptation: GIS and remote sensing for climate monitoring and planning, Decision support systems and adaptation toolkits, Nature-based solutions and green infrastructure, Community-led and indigenous knowledge-based adaptation, Innovations in climate resilience technologies, Future directions, challenges, and career prospects in climate adaptation.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
