Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/AC/CDRT/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Document & Records Technician course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to manage, organize, and maintain documents and records efficiently within an organization. The course covers records management principles, classification systems, document lifecycle management, digital and physical filing systems, compliance with legal and regulatory standards, data security, retrieval methods, and record preservation techniques.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card (Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Fundamentals of Document and Records Management: Introduction to document and records management, Importance of accurate record-keeping, Types of documents and records, Principles of information lifecycle, Legal and regulatory considerations, Case studies of effective records management

Module 2: Document Creation and Formatting: Standard document formats and templates, Writing and editing professional documents, Use of word processing software (MS Word, Google Docs), Document version control, Collaboration and co-authoring practices, Accessibility and readability standards

Module 3: Filing and Classification Systems: Alphabetical, numerical, and subject-based filing, Taxonomy and metadata for records, Electronic vs physical filing systems, Indexing and cross-referencing techniques, Implementing consistent classification methods, Maintaining retrieval efficiency

Module 4: Records Storage and Preservation: Storage solutions for physical and digital records, Archiving and retention policies, Environmental considerations for preservation, Backup and disaster recovery methods, Security and access control, Monitoring and auditing stored records

Module 5: Records Retrieval and Access Management: Efficient retrieval techniques, Querying and search methods in digital systems, Handling sensitive and confidential information, User permissions and role-based access, Documentation of retrieval processes, Ensuring compliance with legal standards

Module 6: Professional Practice and Workflow Optimization: Developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), Implementing records management workflows, Training staff and promoting best practices, Monitoring performance and quality assurance, Ethical and legal considerations, Continuous improvement and skill enhancement

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
