Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/HF/CECGT/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified ECG Technician course is designed to equip learners with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to perform Electrocardiogram (ECG) tests accurately and efficiently. The course trains individuals in the fundamentals of cardiac anatomy and physiology, understanding ECG waveforms, lead placements, machine operation, and patient preparation techniques.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to ECG and Cardiovascular System: Overview of ECG and its significance in diagnosis, Anatomy and physiology of the heart and circulatory system, Electrical conduction system of the heart, Common cardiac conditions and abnormalities, Role and responsibilities of an ECG technician, Ethics, patient rights and communication skills.

Module 2: ECG Equipment and Electrode Placement: Types and components of ECG machines, Understanding leads, electrodes and cables, Preparing and positioning the patient for ECG, Correct electrode placement for standard 12-lead ECG, Troubleshooting lead placement issues, Infection control and equipment hygiene.

Module 3: Performing ECG Procedures: Steps for performing a standard ECG procedure, Monitoring and identifying artifacts and noise, Ensuring accuracy and repeatability of ECG recordings, Safety precautions during ECG testing, Holter monitoring and stress test overview, Recording, saving and printing ECG results.

Module 4: ECG Interpretation Basics: Understanding the ECG waveform (P, QRS, T, etc.), Heart rate and rhythm calculation methods, Identifying normal vs abnormal ECG patterns, Common arrhythmias and their ECG features, Introduction to myocardial infarction and ischemia on ECG, Referral protocol and technician’s reporting role.

Module 5: Patient Care and Emergency Handling: Ensuring patient comfort and confidentiality, Recognizing and responding to adverse patient reactions, Basic life support (BLS) and emergency response skills, Documentation and patient data management, Coordination with doctors and nurses, Handling pediatric and geriatric patients in ECG.

Module 6: Maintenance, Safety and Professional Practice: Routine cleaning and maintenance of ECG machines, Calibration and quality control of equipment, Electrical safety and precautions, Record keeping and data security protocols, Legal, ethical and professional standards for ECG technicians, Career scope and continuing education opportunities.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
