Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/FS/CFPS/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Fall Protection Supervisor course is designed to provide comprehensive training for supervisors responsible for managing fall protection programs in construction, maintenance, and industrial settings. The course focuses on hazard identification, risk assessment, selection and inspection of fall protection equipment, and development of site-specific fall prevention plans. Participants will gain knowledge of regulatory standards such as OSHA, ANSI, and CSA related to working at heights, as well as safe anchoring methods, harness fitting, rescue planning, and fall arrest systems. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Module 1: Introduction to Fall Protection and Supervisor Roles: Overview of fall hazards in the workplace, Regulatory standards (OSHA, ANSI Z359, ISO), Duties and responsibilities of a fall protection supervisor, Types of falls and injury statistics, Importance of supervision and leadership in fall protection, Legal liabilities and employer obligations.

Module 2: Fall Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Common fall hazards in construction and industrial settings, Fall hazard recognition techniques, Hazard analysis and risk assessment methods, Unsafe practices and unsafe conditions, Working at heights hazard zones, Job safety analysis (JSA) for fall-related tasks.

Module 3: Fall Protection Systems and Equipment: Types of fall protection systems (PFA, guardrails, nets), Components of personal fall arrest systems (harness, lanyard, anchor), Equipment selection and compatibility, Equipment inspection, maintenance, and rejection criteria, Fall clearance and free-fall calculations, Use of ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts safely.

Module 4: Anchor Points and System Design: Types of anchor points and strength requirements, Temporary vs. permanent anchor systems, Horizontal and vertical lifeline systems, Fall protection system planning and layout, Load calculations and anchorage testing, Manufacturer specifications and compliance checks.

Module 5: Training, Supervision, and Rescue Planning: Training requirements for authorized and competent persons, Supervisor’s role in team coordination and behavior monitoring, Conducting toolbox talks and on-site training refreshers, Rescue plan development and implementation, Self-rescue and assisted rescue techniques, Emergency response coordination for fall incidents.

Module 6: Inspection, Documentation, and Compliance: Fall protection inspection procedures and frequency, Maintaining inspection and training records, Conducting fall protection audits and site assessments, Corrective actions and continuous improvement, Compliance with legal and internal policies, Reporting, investigation, and follow-up of fall incidents.

  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
