Objective: The Certified Feature Writer course is designed to develop in-depth storytelling and narrative writing skills for journalists and content creators focusing on long-form, human-interest, lifestyle, travel, culture, and profile stories. The course covers feature writing techniques such as crafting compelling leads, building narrative arcs, integrating quotes and research, and using descriptive language to engage readers emotionally.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Feature Writing: Definition and scope of feature writing, Difference between news and feature articles, Importance of storytelling in journalism, Types of feature stories (human interest, profiles, etc.), Role of a feature writer in media, Ethics and responsibilities in feature writing

Module 2: Research and Reporting for Features: Identifying story angles and ideas, Conducting background research, Interview techniques for feature writing, Using primary and secondary sources, Fact-checking and accuracy, Building a strong narrative through research

Module 3: Structure and Style of Feature Writing: Crafting compelling leads and hooks, Organizing the body of a feature, Writing effective conclusions, Tone, voice, and style in features, Use of literary devices and anecdotes, Balancing creativity with journalistic integrity

Module 4: Writing and Editing Feature Articles: Drafting and redrafting techniques, Self-editing and peer review, Clarity, conciseness, and coherence in writing, Avoiding clichés and stereotypes, Grammar, punctuation, and AP style, Preparing a feature for publication

Module 5: Specialized Feature Writing: Profile writing and personality features, Travel and food features, Cultural and lifestyle reporting, Investigative features with a narrative style, Writing for magazines and digital platforms, Adapting features for different audiences

Module 6: Publishing and Career Opportunities: Pitching feature ideas to editors, Building a freelance writing portfolio, Networking and industry connections, Legal aspects and copyright, Monetizing feature writing skills, Career paths in feature writing and journalism

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

• Duration- 60 minutes.
• Number of Questions- 30.
• Number of Questions from each module: 5.
• Language: English.
• Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
• Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
• There is no negative marking in any module.
