Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/TL/CFFA/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Freight Forwarding Agent course is designed to develop professionals with the knowledge and skills required to coordinate and manage the global movement of goods on behalf of shippers. The course covers freight forwarding operations, multimodal transport handling, cargo booking, route and carrier selection, documentation (such as Bill of Lading, Airway Bill, Commercial Invoice), customs procedures, regulatory compliance (including INCOTERMS, IATA, FIATA), cargo insurance, and warehousing coordination.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Freight Forwarding: Role and Responsibilities of a Freight Forwarding Agent, Overview of Global Freight Forwarding Industry, Types of Cargo and Shipping Methods, Stakeholders in International Freight Movement, Freight Forwarding vs. Customs Broking vs. Logistics, Legal and Ethical Responsibilities.

Module 2: Modes of Transport and Carrier Coordination: Ocean Freight Procedures and Containerization, Air Freight and Express Cargo Handling, Road and Rail Transport Integration, Multimodal and Intermodal Transport Concepts, Carrier Selection and Service Contracts, Coordination with Shipping Lines and Airlines.

Module 3: Documentation and Regulatory Compliance: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading, Airway Bill, and Certificate of Origin, Import-Export Licensing and Permits, Customs Declarations and Clearance Documentation, Compliance with International Trade Regulations (INCOTERMS, WTO, FTA), Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Paperless Transactions, Record Keeping and Audit Trails.

Module 4: Freight Rate Management and Costing: Freight Rate Structures and Surcharges, Quotation Preparation and Cost Estimation, Negotiating with Carriers and Agents, Incoterms and Their Impact on Pricing, Profit Margins and Invoice Preparation, Currency Fluctuation and Surcharge Management.

Module 5: Cargo Handling, Insurance, and Risk Management: Cargo Consolidation, Deconsolidation, and Stuffing Procedures, Special Cargo Handling (Hazardous, Perishable, High-Value Goods), Freight Insurance Types and Coverage, Risk Identification and Mitigation in Freight Movement, Claims Handling and Dispute Resolution, Security Measures and Cargo Tracking.

Module 6: Technology and Customer Service in Freight Forwarding: Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Freight Software, Real-Time Shipment Tracking and Visibility Tools, Communication and Coordination with Clients and Vendors, CRM and Service Quality Monitoring, Digital Freight Platforms and E-Marketplaces, Trends in Freight Forwarding and Global Logistics Transformation.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
