Objective: The Certified Functional Training Specialist course is designed to equip fitness professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to design and implement functional training programs that improve real-life movement, enhance athletic performance, and prevent injury. The program covers movement mechanics, mobility and stability training, core integration, balance, multi-planar movement, and corrective strategies.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Foundations of Functional Training and Human Movement: Definition and principles of functional training, Differences between functional training and traditional training, Planes of motion and movement patterns (push, pull, hinge, squat, lunge, rotate), Kinetic chain concept and integrated movement systems, Benefits of functional training for daily life and sport, Role of a Functional Training Specialist in performance and rehab.

Module 2: Movement Assessment and Postural Analysis: Conducting dynamic movement assessments and screens, Identifying muscular imbalances and compensatory patterns, Postural alignment and joint mobility evaluations, Tools and techniques for functional movement testing (FMS, OHSA), Designing corrective strategies based on assessment outcomes, Reassessment protocols to track progress and adaptations.

Module 3: Core Stability, Balance, and Mobility Training: Importance of core function and integrated core activation, Training for stability, dynamic balance, and proprioception, Mobility drills for hips, shoulders, thoracic spine, and ankles, Functional stretching and myofascial release techniques, Using unstable surfaces (BOSU, balance boards) for neuromuscular control, Breathing mechanics and intra-abdominal pressure in functional training.

Module 4: Functional Strength and Conditioning Techniques: Compound, multiplanar movements for strength and endurance, Training with functional tools (kettlebells, sandbags, resistance bands, suspension trainers), Bodyweight and unconventional resistance exercises, Circuit and interval formats for metabolic conditioning, Injury prevention through movement efficiency and proper loading, Progression and regression of functional exercises for all fitness levels.

Module 5: Program Design and Periodization for Functional Fitness: Structuring functional training programs for athletes, clients, and special populations, Integrating warm-up, skill work, strength, conditioning, and recovery, Phased training cycles: foundational, progressive, and performance phases, Customizing plans for fat loss, athletic performance, or rehab goals, Monitoring intensity, load, and volume with functional outcomes in mind, Functional training for youth, seniors, and post-rehab clients.

Module 6: Coaching, Cueing, and Professional Practice: Effective verbal, visual, and tactile cueing techniques, Motivational strategies and behavior coaching for long-term adherence, Creating engaging group sessions and individualized programs, Safety guidelines and client risk management, Business development and branding as a Functional Training Specialist, Continuing education, networking, and industry certification pathways.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
