Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Gemologist course aims to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the identification, grading, and evaluation of gemstones. The course covers the scientific properties of gems, including crystallography, mineralogy, and optical characteristics, as well as gem cutting, treatments, and enhancements. Students learn to use advanced gemological instruments and techniques to accurately assess gem quality, authenticity, and value. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Gemology: History of gemology, Overview of gemstones, Classification of gemstones, Physical and optical properties, Gemological tools and equipment, Basic gemstone identification techniques.

Module 2: Formation and Origin of Gemstones: Geological processes of gemstone formation, Types of mineral deposits, Synthetic and simulated gemstones, Gemstone mining and sourcing, Ethical and sustainable sourcing, Effects of environment on gemstone quality.

Module 3: Gemstone Identification and Testing: Use of microscopes and loupes, Refractometer and specific gravity tests, Spectroscope analysis, Polariscopes and pleochroism, Ultraviolet light testing, Advanced identification techniques.

Module 4: Characteristics and Properties of Precious Gemstones: Diamonds – grading and characteristics, Rubies and sapphires properties, Emeralds and other beryls, Colored gemstones – varieties and traits, Treatments and enhancements, Grading standards and certifications.

Module 5: Gemstone Cutting and Polishing: Cutting styles and terminology, Faceting techniques, Importance of proportions and symmetry, Polishing processes, Effects of cutting on value and appearance, Common cutting errors and how to detect them.

Module 6: Gemstone Appraisal and Market: Gemstone valuation methods, Factors affecting value, Writing gemological reports, Market trends and demand, Legal and ethical considerations, Role of gemologists in the jewellery industry.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

• Duration- 60 minutes.
• Number of Questions- 30.
• Number of Questions from each module: 5.
• Language: English.
• Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
• Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
• There is no negative marking in any module.
