Certification Name: Certified Height Safety Supervisor

Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/FS/CHSS/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Height Safety Supervisor course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage work-at-height activities safely and effectively. The course covers hazard identification, fall risk assessment, selection and inspection of fall protection equipment (harnesses, lanyards, lifelines, anchors), rescue planning, and emergency response procedures. Participants will also learn about scaffolding safety, ladder use, mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs), and relevant regulations such as OSHA, ISO 22846, and local safety codes.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Work at Height and Legal Framework: Definition and classification of work at height activities, Hazards and risks associated with working at height, Overview of national and international safety regulations (IS, OSHA, Work at Height Regulations), Roles and responsibilities of a Height Safety Supervisor, Importance of planning and supervision in height-related tasks, Permit to Work (PTW) system and legal compliance.

Module 2: Fall Hazards, Risk Assessment, and Safe Access Systems: Identifying fall hazards: fragile surfaces, unprotected edges, weather impact, Conducting HIRA and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for height work, Safe access systems: ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, mobile towers, Inspection and stability requirements of access equipment, Planning for rescue and emergency evacuation, Signage and barricading at elevated work zones.

Module 3: Fall Protection Equipment and Anchor Systems: Types of fall protection systems: fall arrest, fall restraint, and work positioning, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): full body harness, lanyards, connectors, Lifelines, retractable fall arresters, and anchorage points, Selection, fitting, and compatibility of height safety gear, Inspection, maintenance, and rejection criteria of PPE, Load rating, anchorage strength, and certification requirements.

Module 4: Scaffolding, Platforms, and Elevated Work Structures: Types of scaffolding: supported, suspended, mobile, tower scaffolds, Scaffold erection, use, modification, and dismantling safety, Platform safety: toe boards, guardrails, mid-rails, and decking, Inspection protocols and checklists for scaffolds and platforms, Competent person roles in scaffolding supervision, Common causes of scaffold failures and preventive measures.

Module 5: Supervision, Communication, and Emergency Preparedness: Pre-task briefings, toolbox talks, and worker instructions, Effective communication techniques for height work teams, Monitoring worker behavior and enforcing safety rules, Emergency response planning: fall rescue plans and drills, Coordination with first responders and medical support, Incident reporting, documentation, and post-incident analysis.

Module 6: Training, Audit, and Continuous Improvement: Training requirements and competency standards for height workers, Evaluating training effectiveness and skill validation, Conducting internal audits and compliance checks, Maintaining safety records and height work permits, Implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), Promoting continuous improvement and safety culture at height.

  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
