Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/HT/CHPCT/V1

Duration: One Month.

Eligibility: 10+2 Grade (Higher Secondary) or Equivalent is required.

Objective: The Certified Hospitality Pest Control Technician course is designed to equip learners with specialized knowledge and skills for managing pests in hospitality settings while ensuring guest safety and regulatory compliance. The course covers pest identification (insects, rodents, etc.), behavior, inspection techniques, safe application of chemical and non-chemical treatments, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), sanitation practices, and preventive measures.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Pest Control in Hospitality Industry: Importance of pest control in hotels and food establishments, Common pests in hospitality environments, Impact of pest infestation on health and reputation, Roles and responsibilities of a pest control technician, Basic principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Module 2: Pest Identification and Behavior: Identification of crawling insects (cockroaches, ants, bedbugs), Identification of flying insects (flies, mosquitoes), Rodents and their nesting behavior, Birds and occasional invaders in hospitality premises, Signs of infestation and pest activity, Life cycles and habits affecting control strategies.

Module 3: Inspection, Monitoring, and Reporting: Conducting site surveys and risk assessments, Using monitoring tools like traps and baits, Creating pest inspection checklists and logs, Identifying pest entry points and vulnerable zones, Documenting infestation levels and treatment results, Reporting to management and follow-up procedures.

Module 4: Pest Control Methods and Equipment: Mechanical, biological, and chemical control methods, Safe use of insecticides, rodenticides, and repellents, Operating sprayers, foggers, and bait stations, Preventive control measures and exclusion techniques, Pesticide label interpretation and mixing procedures, Calibration and maintenance of pest control equipment.

Module 5: Safety, Hygiene, and Environmental Practices: Personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and safety, Safe chemical storage and spill response, Minimizing risks to guests and staff during treatment, Ensuring food safety and sanitation during pest control, Eco-friendly and sustainable pest control practices, Waste disposal and environmental impact management.

Module 6: Communication, Coordination, and Legal Compliance: Coordinating with housekeeping, kitchen, and maintenance teams, Educating hotel staff on pest prevention practices, Managing guest concerns during pest issues, Understanding legal and licensing requirements, Preparing for health and safety inspections, Maintaining compliance records and audit readiness.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
