Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/AT/CLGT/V1

Eligibility: 10th (High School) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Leather Garment Technician course aims to provide participants with specialized knowledge and practical skills required for the manufacturing, handling, and quality control of leather garments. The course covers leather types and properties, cutting and stitching techniques, pattern making for leather apparel, garment construction, finishing processes, and defect identification. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Leather Garments: Overview of Leather Garment Industry, Types of Leathers and Their Properties, Leather Tanning and Treatment Processes, Understanding Leather Finishes and Surface Treatments, Leather Fashion Trends and Market Demands, Key Functions and Responsibilities of a Leather Garment Technician.

Module 2: Leather Garment Design and Pattern Making: Introduction to Leather Garment Design, Drafting Patterns for Leather Garments, Understanding Leather Fit and Construction, Draping Techniques for Leather, Creating Templates and Master Patterns, Working with Leather for Complex Garment Designs.

Module 3: Leather Cutting and Stitching Techniques: Leather Cutting Techniques (Manual and Machine), Tools for Cutting Leather, Types of Stitching Machines Used for Leather, Stitching Leather Garments (Single, Double, and Triple Stitching), Special Stitching Techniques for Leather (Topstitching, Blind Stitching), Leather Seam Types and Their Applications.

Module 4: Leather Garment Finishing and Detailing: Leather Dyeing and Color Matching, Surface Finishes and Treatments (Polishing, Coating, etc.), Adding Functional and Decorative Details (Zippers, Buttons, Rivets), Edge Finishing Techniques for Leather, Incorporating Lining and Other Materials in Leather Garments, Quality Control in Leather Garment Production.

Module 5: Garment Fitting and Alteration Techniques: Leather Garment Fitting and Adjustment, Techniques for Fitting Leather to the Body, Altering Leather Garments (Length, Fit, and Shape), Handling Leather Garment Repairs and Alterations, Analyzing Wear and Tear in Leather, Maintaining Leather Garment Shape and Structure.

Module 6: Leather Garment Maintenance and Sustainability: Leather Garment Care and Maintenance, Cleaning and Conditioning Leather, Techniques for Repairing Minor Damages (Scratches, Stains, etc.), Sustainable Leather Sourcing and Eco-friendly Practices, Introduction to Vegan and Synthetic Leathers, Future Trends in Leather Garment Technology and Innovation.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

• Duration- 60 minutes.
• Number of Questions- 30.
• Number of Questions from each module: 5.
• Language: English.
• Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
• Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
• There is no negative marking in any module.
