Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/FS/CMSO/V1

Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Mining Safety Officer course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to manage occupational health and safety risks in both surface and underground mining operations. The course covers mine safety laws and regulations (such as DGMS, MSHA), hazard identification and control, ventilation and gas monitoring, blasting safety, slope and ground control, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency preparedness, and accident investigation.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Mining Safety: Overview of mining industry and safety importance, Roles and responsibilities of a mining safety officer, Mining safety regulations and standards (MSHA, OSHA, local laws), Types of mining hazards (physical, chemical, environmental), Mining safety culture and leadership, Basic mining terminology and operations.

Module 2: Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment in Mining: Identification of common mining hazards (rock falls, explosions, dust), Risk assessment techniques specific to mining, Monitoring and controlling environmental hazards, Use of risk matrices and prioritization, Worker involvement in hazard identification, Development of risk mitigation strategies.

Module 3: Equipment and Machinery Safety: Safe operation of mining equipment and machinery, Maintenance and inspection protocols, Lockout/tagout procedures, Operator training and competency requirements, Prevention of mechanical failures and accidents, Use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Module 4: Mine Ventilation and Environmental Controls: Principles of mine ventilation systems, Control of airborne contaminants (dust, gases), Monitoring of air quality and gas detection, Implementation of ventilation plans, Environmental impact and waste management, Emergency ventilation procedures.

Module 5: Emergency Preparedness and Incident Management: Development of mine emergency response plans, Rescue and evacuation procedures, Incident command system in mining emergencies, Fire prevention and firefighting in mines, Medical response and first aid, Post-incident investigation and reporting.

Module 6: Training, Audits, and Continuous Improvement: Designing and delivering mining safety training programs, Conducting safety audits and inspections, Documentation and recordkeeping, Compliance monitoring and corrective actions, Worker engagement and safety meetings, Fostering continuous improvement and safety culture.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
