Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Multipurpose Vessel Manager course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to oversee the operation and management of multipurpose vessels that carry diverse cargo types such as containers, bulk, breakbulk, and project cargo. The course covers vessel planning and scheduling, cargo loading/unloading procedures, stowage planning, stability management, safety and environmental regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL), crew management, and maintenance planning. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Multipurpose Vessel Management: Overview of multipurpose vessels and their roles in maritime transport, Types and classifications of multipurpose vessels, Roles and responsibilities of a Multipurpose Vessel Manager, Key stakeholders and maritime industry overview, Regulatory framework and compliance requirements (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL), Vessel terminology and operational basics.

Module 2: Vessel Operations and Voyage Planning: Planning and scheduling multipurpose vessel voyages, Cargo types handled: general, breakbulk, containers, heavy lifts, and project cargo, Loading, stowage, and securing techniques for diverse cargoes, Navigation and route optimization, Coordination with port authorities and service providers, Weather and risk assessment for voyage safety.

Module 3: Crew and Safety Management: Crew recruitment, training, and certification requirements, Health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols onboard, Emergency preparedness and response plans, Compliance with maritime labor conventions (MLC), Monitoring crew performance and welfare, Safety audits and drills.

Module 4: Maintenance and Technical Management: Vessel maintenance planning and execution, Machinery and equipment inspection and repair, Dry docking and periodic surveys, Managing spare parts and technical inventory, Compliance with class society and flag state requirements, Use of vessel management software and technology.

Module 5: Financial and Contractual Management: Budgeting and cost control for vessel operations, Chartering contracts and negotiations, Freight rate calculations and billing, Handling claims and disputes, Insurance and risk management, Financial reporting and documentation.

Module 6: Environmental Compliance and Sustainability: Environmental regulations and pollution prevention measures, Ballast water management and emissions control, Waste management and recycling onboard, Sustainable shipping practices and green technologies, Monitoring and reporting environmental performance, Capstone project: develop a comprehensive operational and compliance plan for a multipurpose vessel on a long-haul route.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
