Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/AD/CPD/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Packaging Designer course is designed to develop creative, technical, and functional skills in designing packaging solutions that are visually appealing, brand-consistent, and market-ready. The course covers the complete packaging design process—from concept development and branding integration to dieline creation, material selection, and pre-press setup. Learners will explore structural design, sustainability principles, legal labeling requirements, and consumer psychology. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Packaging Design: Understanding the purpose and types of packaging (primary, secondary, tertiary), Functions of packaging in branding, protection, and marketing, Overview of packaging materials (paperboard, plastic, metal, glass, flexible), History and trends in packaging design, Role of a packaging designer in the product lifecycle, Consumer behavior and shelf appeal considerations.

Module 2: Packaging Design Principles and Branding: Visual hierarchy and layout in packaging, Typography and color usage for readability and brand identity, Logo placement and brand consistency, Designing for different packaging shapes and formats, Creating mockups and dielines for various packages, Legal and mandatory information placement (barcodes, nutrition facts, symbols).

Module 3: Structural Packaging and Dieline Development: Understanding dielines and structural templates, Creating dielines for boxes, labels, and wraps, Folding patterns, flaps, bleed, and safety margins, Software tools for dieline creation (Adobe Illustrator, ArtiosCAD), Working with printers and packaging engineers, Testing structural integrity and function.

Module 4: Materials, Printing Techniques, and Finishes: Overview of packaging materials and sustainability considerations, Types of printing (offset, flexographic, digital, screen), Specialty finishes (UV coating, embossing, foil stamping, lamination), Color management and Pantone matching in packaging, Cost-effective design strategies and material selection, Preparing files for print production.

Module 5: Software Tools and Digital Mockups: Using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dimension for packaging design, Creating 3D mockups and product visualizations, Designing templates for labels, sleeves, and wraps, Working with layers, symbols, and styles for efficiency, Exporting files for clients, printers, and marketing teams, Version control and presentation of packaging concepts.

Module 6: Packaging Design Projects and Portfolio: Designing packaging for food, cosmetics, electronics, and retail products, Understanding real-world briefs and brand requirements, Creating packaging campaigns for product lines, Sustainability and eco-friendly packaging design practices, Compiling a professional packaging design portfolio, Presenting packaging concepts using 3D mockups and case studies.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
