Objective: The Certified Port Safety Manager course is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for overseeing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices in port and terminal operations. The course covers safety management systems, cargo handling safety, vessel-port interface risks, hazardous materials handling, fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and environmental protection protocols.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Port Safety Management: Overview of port operations and safety significance, Roles and responsibilities of a port safety manager, Regulatory frameworks and compliance (IMO, OSHA, local maritime laws), Port safety culture and leadership, Types of hazards in port environments, Importance of stakeholder engagement.

Module 2: Physical Safety and Infrastructure Management: Inspection and maintenance of port infrastructure (docks, cranes, warehouses), Safe handling and storage of cargo, Traffic management within port areas, Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), Security measures and access control, Environmental safety and pollution prevention.

Module 3: Hazardous Materials and Dangerous Goods Handling: Classification and identification of hazardous materials, Safe loading, unloading, and storage procedures, Compliance with IMDG Code and other regulations, Emergency response for hazardous materials incidents, Training requirements for hazardous cargo handlers, Documentation and labeling protocols.

Module 4: Occupational Health and Safety in Ports: Workplace ergonomics and injury prevention, Noise and vibration control, Monitoring and controlling exposure to harmful substances, Health surveillance and medical programs, Incident and accident investigation, Promoting worker safety awareness and training.

Module 5: Emergency Preparedness and Response: Developing port-specific emergency response plans, Coordination with local authorities and emergency services, Incident command system application in port emergencies, Spill containment and environmental response, Evacuation procedures and drills, Post-incident analysis and reporting.

Module 6: Safety Audits, Risk Assessment, and Continuous Improvement: Conducting safety audits and inspections, Risk identification and mitigation strategies, Use of safety management systems (SMS) in ports, Incident trend analysis and reporting, Implementing corrective actions and preventive measures, Fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
