Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent is required.

Objective:The Certified Power Tool Safety Officer course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to manage and enforce safety protocols related to the use of powered hand and stationary tools in various industries. The course covers identification of different types of power tools (electric, pneumatic, hydraulic), hazard recognition, proper usage techniques, inspection and maintenance procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe storage practices. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Power Tool Safety and Roles of Safety Officer: Types and classification of power tools (corded, cordless, pneumatic), Common hazards associated with power tool use, Responsibilities and duties of a Power Tool Safety Officer, Safety management principles and hazard control hierarchy, Importance of safety culture in tool-intensive environments, Legal and regulatory framework for tool safety.

Module 2: Tool Selection, Inspection, and Maintenance: Criteria for selecting the right tool for the job, Pre-use inspection procedures and checklists, Identifying defective or unsafe tools, Maintenance schedules and record-keeping, Manufacturer guidelines and tool manuals, Calibration and service documentation.

Module 3: Safe Operation Practices and Procedures: Standard operating procedures (SOPs) for different power tools, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and usage, Ergonomics and safe handling techniques, Lockout/tagout (LOTO) during maintenance, Safe storage and transportation of power tools, Incident prevention through proper usage training.

Module 4: Electrical and Mechanical Safety Precautions: Understanding tool-related electrical hazards, Use of Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs), Prevention of electric shock, fire, and burns, Guarding of moving parts and mechanical safety features, Vibration and noise control measures, Safety in pneumatic and hydraulic tool operations.

Module 5: Risk Assessment, Emergency Response, and First Aid: Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) specific to power tools, Emergency preparedness and response planning, Procedures for tool-related accidents and injuries, Basic first aid for lacerations, amputations, and electric shock, Reporting and investigation of incidents and near misses, Case studies of past tool-related accidents.

Module 6: Training, Compliance, and Audit Procedures: Developing and delivering effective safety training programs, Competency assessment and certification for tool operators, Documentation and safety signage requirements, Safety audits and compliance checklists, Continuous monitoring and performance review, Promoting best practices and continuous improvement in tool safety management.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
