Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/AD/CPMA/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The objective of the Certified Prosthetic Makeup Artist course is to equip students with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the creation and application of prosthetics for film, television, theatre, fashion, and special events. This includes mastering lifecasting, mold-making, sculpting, silicone and foam latex casting, and advanced painting techniques. 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Prosthetic Makeup: History and evolution of prosthetic makeup, Overview of special effects and prosthetics in film and TV, Roles and responsibilities of a prosthetic makeup artist, Tools and materials overview, Basic hygiene and safety practices, Understanding skin anatomy.

Module 2: Life Casting and Mold Making: Introduction to life casting materials, Creating face and body molds, Safety procedures during casting, Working with alginate and plaster bandages, Sculpting on positive molds, Mold making with silicone and fiberglass.

Module 3: Sculpting and Prosthetic Design: Types of clay for sculpting, Character and creature design principles, Sculpting facial appliances (nose, chin, ears), Texture techniques for realism, Symmetry and anatomical accuracy, Preparing sculptures for mold making.

Module 4: Molding and Casting Prosthetics: Single-piece and multi-piece molds, Material selection: foam latex, silicone, gelatin, Demolding and prosthetic care, Prepping molds for casting, Troubleshooting common molding issues.

Module 5: Application Techniques and Blending: Prosthetic adhesion methods, Edging and blending techniques, Color matching and painting prosthetics, Airbrushing for realism, Applying multiple prosthetic pieces, Removal and aftercare of prosthetics.

Module 6: Final Projects and Industry Preparation: Portfolio building and photography, Creating character concepts from script, Working on set: etiquette and collaboration, Budgeting and material sourcing, Freelancing vs studio employment, Certification exam and practical assessment.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
