Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/AD/CSD/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: This course aims to provide comprehensive training in set design, focusing on the conceptual, artistic, and technical aspects of creating physical and digital environments for film, television, and live events. Students will learn design principles, drafting techniques, model-making, software tools (such as AutoCAD and SketchUp), and the workflow of set construction.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Set Design: Introduction to Set Design Principles, History and Evolution of Set Design in Film/TV/Events, Roles and Responsibilities of a Set Designer, Understanding Production Requirements, Visual Storytelling through Sets, Set Design Terminology and Vocabulary.

Module 2: Design Process & Concept Development: Script Breakdown and Analysis, Mood Boards and Style References, Theme and Period Research, Color Theory and Symbolism, Creating Concept Sketches and Floor Plans, Collaboration with Directors and Production Designers.

Module 3: Technical Drawing & Visualization Tools: Introduction to Drafting Tools and Techniques, Scale Drawing and Orthographic Projection, CAD Software for Set Design (AutoCAD, SketchUp etc.), 3D Modeling and Rendering Basics, Use of AR/VR in Visualizing Sets, Preparing Presentation Boards and Layouts.

Module 4: Materials, Construction & Safety: Types of Construction Materials (Wood, Foam, Fabric etc.), Budgeting and Sourcing Materials, Building Techniques and On-site Construction Management, Set Rigging and Structural Safety, Sustainability in Set Design, Health & Safety Compliance on Set.

Module 5: Set Design for Different Media: Set Design for Films and Web Series, Set Design for Television Shows and Commercials, Live Event and Stage Design Principles, Designing for Virtual Productions (Green Screen, LED Walls), Set Continuity and Scene Transitions, Adapting Designs for Budget and Location.

Module 6: Industry Practices & Portfolio Development: Working with Art Department and Crew, Time Management and Production Scheduling, Contracts, Licenses and Legal Aspects, Client Communication and Revisions, Building a Set Design Portfolio, Final Capstone Project and Presentation.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
