Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Sports Journalism: Overview of sports journalism and its evolution, Roles and responsibilities of a sports journalist, Types of sports reporting (print, digital, broadcast), Understanding sports culture and fan engagement, Ethical considerations in sports reporting, Key differences between sports reporting and general news reporting.

Module 2: Sports Reporting Techniques:Covering live matches and events effectively, Writing pre-game, in-game, and post-game reports, Player and coach interviews: techniques and etiquette, Understanding and interpreting game statistics, Writing match previews, features, and analysis articles, Building storylines and narratives in sports coverage.

Module 3: Understanding Sports and Rules: Basic rules and terminology of popular sports (cricket, football, athletics, etc.), Governing bodies and league structures, Interpreting scores, standings, and schedules, Covering national and international tournaments, Issues like doping, match-fixing, and sports politics, Sports history and major milestones.

Module 4: Digital and Multimedia Sports Journalism: Live blogging and tweeting during matches, Creating video highlights and post-match reviews, Podcasting and sports commentary basics, Using social media platforms for sports coverage, Mobile journalism tools for field reporting, SEO and headline writing for digital sports content.

Module 5: Ethical, Legal, and Commercial Aspects: Avoiding bias and favoritism in reporting, Managing conflicts of interest and sponsorship influence, Copyright issues in sports content and visuals, Respecting athlete privacy and sensitive issues, Dealing with rumors, controversies, and injuries, Understanding sports PR and media relations.

Module 6: Career Development and Specialization: Building a sports journalism portfolio, Freelancing vs working with media houses and networks, Covering grassroots to elite-level sports, Networking with athletes, coaches, and sports officials, Specializing in a particular sport or format, Staying updated with sports trends, tools, and analytics.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
