Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Surface Pattern Designer course aims to equip students with the creative and technical skills necessary to design repeat patterns and decorative motifs for various surfaces such as textiles, wallpapers, ceramics, packaging, and digital media. The course covers fundamental design principles, color theory, trend analysis, and the use of digital design tools like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Students will learn how to create seamless patterns, develop collections, and prepare files for production across different industries.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Surface Pattern Design: History and applications of surface pattern design, Principles and elements of pattern design, Types of repeat patterns (half-drop, brick, mirror), Color theory for patterns, Understanding trends and market demands, Inspiration sources and concept development.

Module 2: Drawing and Illustration Techniques: Hand drawing and sketching methods, Creating motifs and elements, Digital illustration basics, Scanning and digitizing hand drawings, Use of tablets and styluses, Developing a cohesive pattern collection.

Module 3: Pattern Creation and Repeat Design: Understanding pattern repeats and grids, Creating seamless repeats manually, Using software tools for repeat design, Experimenting with scale and proportion, Colorway variations, Combining motifs for complex patterns.

Module 4: Software Skills for Surface Pattern Design: Adobe Photoshop essentials, Adobe Illustrator for vector patterns, Using Procreate for digital drawing, Pattern creation tools and plugins, Exporting and preparing files for print, File management and organization.

Module 5: Applications and Product Development: Applying patterns to textiles, wallpapers, and home decor, Pattern use in fashion and accessories, Licensing and collaboration with manufacturers, Understanding production processes, Creating mockups and presentations, Sustainable design considerations.

Module 6: Professional Practice and Marketing: Building a professional portfolio, Branding and personal style development, Marketing strategies for surface pattern designers, Social media and online presence, Networking with clients and industry professionals, Business setup and legal aspects.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

• Duration- 60 minutes.
• Number of Questions- 30.
• Number of Questions from each module: 5.
• Language: English.
• Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
• Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
• There is no negative marking in any module.
