Objective: The Certified Tanker Operations Manager course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to oversee the operation and management of tanker vessels transporting liquid cargo such as oil, chemicals, and liquefied gases. The course covers tanker types, cargo handling procedures, tank cleaning, stability and ballasting, safety management systems, emergency response, and compliance with international conventions such as MARPOL, SOLAS, and the International Safety Management (ISM) Code.Β 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Tanker Operations and Industry Overview: Overview of tanker types: crude, product, chemical, and gas tankers, Roles and responsibilities of a Tanker Operations Manager, Key stakeholders in tanker shipping, Regulatory framework and compliance (IMO, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISGOTT), Safety and environmental considerations specific to tanker operations, Industry trends and challenges.

Module 2: Tanker Vessel Operations and Voyage Planning: Voyage planning and route optimization, Cargo handling procedures for liquid bulk, Loading, unloading, and ballasting operations, Stability and trim considerations for tankers, Coordination with port and terminal facilities, Weather and risk assessment during voyages.

Module 3: Cargo and Tank Management: Types of cargo and their properties, Tank cleaning and maintenance procedures, Cargo compatibility and segregation, Monitoring cargo quality and contamination prevention, Use of inert gas systems and safety devices, Documentation and recordkeeping for cargo operations.

Module 4: Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Safety management systems (ISM Code) implementation, Hazard identification and risk assessment, Emergency response and spill containment, Compliance with environmental regulations and pollution prevention, Crew training and safety drills, Incident investigation and reporting.

Module 5: Crew and Resource Management: Crew recruitment, training, and certification requirements, Crew welfare and performance monitoring, Resource allocation and shift scheduling, Communication and coordination onboard and with shore, Maintaining operational efficiency and morale, Conflict resolution and leadership skills.

Module 6: Financial Management and Technology Integration: Budgeting and cost control in tanker operations, Chartering contracts and freight rate negotiations, Risk management and insurance considerations, Use of tanker management software and digital tools, Data analytics for operational improvement, Capstone project: develop a comprehensive tanker operation plan including safety, environmental, and financial aspects.

  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
