Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Terminal Operations and Management: Overview of terminal types: container, bulk, liquid, and multipurpose, Roles and responsibilities of a Terminal Operations Manager, Terminal infrastructure and equipment overview, Key stakeholders: shipping lines, freight forwarders, port authorities, and customs, Regulatory framework and compliance requirements, Performance metrics and KPIs for terminal operations.

Module 2: Cargo Handling and Storage Management: Cargo receiving, inspection, and acceptance procedures, Loading, unloading, and stowage techniques, Storage solutions and yard management, Handling hazardous and special cargo, Use of material handling equipment and automation technologies, Safety practices in cargo handling.

Module 3: Documentation, Customs, and Security Compliance: Cargo documentation and recordkeeping: manifests, bills of lading, customs declarations, Permits and customs clearance processes, Compliance with security regulations (C-TPAT, ISPS), Managing restricted and prohibited cargo, Audit and inspection readiness.

Module 4: Equipment and Maintenance Management: Types and operation of terminal equipment: cranes, forklifts, conveyors, and vehicles, Preventive maintenance and repair scheduling, Equipment safety and operator training, Asset management and lifecycle planning, Technology adoption: automation and IoT, Budgeting for equipment maintenance.

Module 5: Team Leadership and Operational Coordination: Staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluation, Work scheduling and resource allocation, Coordination with shipping lines, customs, and logistics providers, Conflict resolution and team motivation, Emergency response and incident management, Implementing safety culture and continuous improvement.

Module 6: Technology, Cost Control, and Strategic Planning: Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) and management software, Data analytics for operational efficiency, Cost budgeting and financial management, Lean and Six Sigma for process improvement, Sustainability and environmental management practices, Capstone project: develop an operational improvement plan for a major cargo terminal.
