Certification Name: Certified Travel Consultant

Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/HT/CTC/V1

Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Travel Consultant course is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills to provide expert travel planning and advisory services. The program covers travel geography, itinerary design, airline and hotel reservations, visa and documentation processes, customer service, travel insurance, and use of global distribution systems (GDS). 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Travel and Tourism Industry: Overview of the global and Indian travel and tourism industry, Types of tourism: leisure, business, adventure, medical, and spiritual, Components of the travel industry: transport, accommodation, attractions, tour operations, Role and responsibilities of a Travel Consultant, Key travel organizations: IATA, UNWTO, ICAO, and national tourism boards, Current trends and challenges in the tourism sector.

Module 2: Travel Geography and Destination Knowledge: World geography essentials: time zones, climate, currencies, languages, Popular international and domestic tourist destinations and attractions, Cultural awareness and etiquette for different regions, Mapping air routes, travel advisories, and visa requirements, UNESCO World Heritage Sites and their tourism importance, Designing customized travel plans based on destination features.

Module 3: Travel Products, Packages, and Itinerary Planning: Types of travel products: FITs, group tours, MICE, cruises, rail, and adventure, Creating and pricing tour packages with value additions, Itinerary planning: duration, activities, inclusions, exclusions, Seasonal travel planning and managing peak/off-peak demands, Incorporating wellness, heritage, eco, and experiential tourism elements, Coordination with DMCs, suppliers, and local guides.

Module 4: Air Ticketing, Visa, and Travel Documentation: Understanding airline codes, classes, and fare rules, Basics of GDS (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo) and PNR creation, Visa types, documentation, and embassy processes, Travel insurance, foreign exchange, and health certificates, Handling passports, itineraries, and travel vouchers, Booking procedures for rail, bus, cruises, and transfers.

Module 5: Customer Service, Sales, and Soft Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills for travel consultants, Handling inquiries, customizing offers, and converting leads, Managing complaints, cancellations, and service recovery, Cross-selling and upselling techniques for travel products, Managing client expectations and building long-term relationships, Cultural sensitivity, grooming, and professional ethics.

Module 6: Travel Technology, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship: Use of travel portals, CRM software, and booking engines, Social media, SEO, and email marketing for travel promotion, Online travel agencies (OTAs) and affiliate partnerships, Legal and financial aspects of running a travel business, Sustainable and responsible tourism practices, Career growth and entrepreneurship opportunities in the travel industry.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
