Objective: The Certified Warehouse Operations Manager course is designed to equip participants with the leadership skills and technical knowledge needed to manage all aspects of warehouse operations effectively. The course covers warehouse planning and layout design, inventory control, order fulfillment, material handling systems, labor management, performance metrics (KPIs), safety compliance (OSHA, ISO), and cost control strategies. It also includes training on warehouse management systems (WMS), automation integration, reverse logistics, and lean warehousing practices.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Warehouse Management and Operations: Overview of warehouse functions in the supply chain, Types of warehouses: distribution, fulfillment, cold storage, bonded, Key roles and responsibilities of a Warehouse Operations Manager, Core processes: receiving, put-away, picking, packing, dispatch, Performance metrics and KPIs in warehouse operations, Compliance with safety, legal, and regulatory standards.

Module 2: Inventory Control and Space Optimization: Inventory management techniques: FIFO, LIFO, FEFO, ABC analysis, Cycle counting, stock audits, and inventory reconciliation, Space planning and zoning for efficient storage and flow, Use of WMS and ERP systems for inventory visibility, Managing excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory, Layout design to optimize picking, packing, and storage efficiency.

Module 3: Material Handling and Equipment Management: Types of material handling equipment (MHE) and their applications, Safe operation and maintenance of forklifts, conveyors, pallet jacks, Selection criteria for MHE based on load and warehouse type, Scheduling preventive maintenance and equipment inspections, Planning for peak demand and seasonal fluctuations, Integration of automation and robotics in material handling.

Module 4: Workforce Management and Team Leadership: Staff planning, scheduling, and shift management, Hiring, training, and evaluating warehouse personnel, Leadership, motivation, and conflict resolution techniques, Compliance with labor laws, workplace ethics, and diversity, Health, safety, and ergonomics in warehouse work environments, Conducting daily briefings, toolbox talks, and performance reviews.

Module 5: Technology Integration and Digital Transformation: Overview of warehouse technologies: WMS, TMS, RFID, barcode systems, Real-time tracking, inventory dashboards, and mobile solutions, Role of AI, IoT, and data analytics in modern warehouse management, Cybersecurity and data protection in warehouse systems, Planning for system upgrades, integration, and automation, Benefits of paperless operations and digital workflows.

Module 6: Quality Control, Cost Management, and Continuous Improvement: Implementing SOPs, quality checks, and audit procedures, Root cause analysis for errors, delays, and returns, Budgeting and cost control across labor, utilities, and logistics, Lean warehousing, 5S, and Kaizen for continuous improvement, Vendor and third-party logistics (3PL) coordination, Capstone project: develop an end-to-end warehouse operations plan with KPIs and cost-saving strategies.
