Eligibility: 10+2 (higher Secondary) or Equivalent or minimum 2 years of relevant experience (experience-based learners can directly enroll and certify).

Objective: The Certified Yarn Maker (Yarn Manufacturing Specialist) course is designed to provide comprehensive training in the science and technology of yarn production. The main objective is to equip learners with the ability to manage end-to-end yarn manufacturing processes—from fiber selection and preparation to spinning, winding, and packaging—while maintaining high quality and production efficiency.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Yarn Manufacturing: Introduction to yarn and its role in textiles, Classification of yarns (spun, filament, blended, fancy), Properties of fibers affecting yarn quality, Yarn count systems and twist direction, Overview of the yarn manufacturing flow process, Responsibilities of a yarn manufacturing specialist.

Module 2: Fiber Preparation and Opening: Objectives of opening and cleaning processes, Machinery used in blow room operations, Fiber blending techniques and their importance, Factors affecting cleaning efficiency, Waste control and fiber loss minimization, Maintenance and settings of blow room machines.

Module 3: Carding, Drawing, and Combing: Carding machine functions and output quality, Carding defects and troubleshooting, Drawing process and drafting mechanisms, Doubling and sliver uniformity, Combing for long staple fibers and quality enhancement, Process parameters and machine settings.

Module 4: Roving and Yarn Formation Techniques: Function and working of roving frames, Common roving faults and preventive measures, Ring spinning and its components, Rotor, air-jet, and friction spinning methods, Comparison of yarn properties from various spinning techniques, Twist insertion, winding, and doffing systems.

Module 5: Yarn Testing and Quality Control: Yarn count determination and variation control, Testing for strength, evenness, hairiness, and elongation, Common yarn defects (thick/thin places, neps, slubs), Use of USTER and other testing instruments, Quality control standards and documentation, Troubleshooting and corrective actions.

Module 6: Sustainability, Safety, and Industrial Readiness: Eco-friendly practices in yarn production, Waste recycling and reuse in spinning mills, Machine safety and personal protective equipment (PPE), Productivity improvement and lean practices, Hands-on training and industrial simulations, Career opportunities in yarn manufacturing and spinning sectors.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
