Certification Name: Rainwater Systems Technician

Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/C/RST/V1

Duration: One Month.

Eligibility: 10+2 Grade (Higher Secondary) or Equivalent is required.

Objective: The Rainwater Systems Technician course is designed to provide participants with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills required to design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot rainwater harvesting systems for residential, commercial, and institutional applications. The course covers system components such as catchment areas, conveyance systems, filtration units, storage tanks, and distribution mechanisms.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Rainwater Systems: Overview of rainwater harvesting, History and importance of rainwater management, Types of rainwater systems, Applications in residential and commercial settings, Environmental and economic benefits, Regulatory and compliance requirements.

Module 2: Components and Materials: Gutters and downspouts, Rainwater filters and diverters, Storage tanks and cisterns, Pumps and pipe fittings, First flush devices, Materials: PVC, HDPE, metal, and concrete.

Module 3: System Design and Planning: Site assessment and rainfall data analysis, Calculating water demand and storage size, Designing catchment and conveyance systems, Sizing of components and flow calculations, Integrating with existing plumbing systems, CAD and blueprint reading basics.

Module 4: Installation Techniques: Tools and equipment for installation, Safety protocols and PPE, Installing guttering and downpipes, Connecting filters, diverters, and tanks, Sealing and leak-proofing methods, Testing and commissioning procedures.

Module 5: Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Routine inspection procedures, Cleaning gutters, filters, and tanks, Identifying and fixing leaks, Replacing damaged components, Troubleshooting pump and flow issues, Record-keeping and service logs.

Module 6: Sustainable Practices and Professional Skills: Water quality testing and treatment, Greywater integration and reuse, Green building certifications (LEED, IGBC), Client communication and project documentation, Estimating costs and preparing quotations, Career development and code of ethics.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
