Eligibility: Graduation or Equivalent.

Duration: Three Months.

Objective: The Certificate in Building Repair and Retrofitting course is designed to train professionals in the assessment, planning, and implementation of retrofitting solutions for existing buildings and infrastructure. The course covers structural, energy, and environmental upgrades aimed at improving safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Retrofitting: Definition and Importance of Retrofitting, Types of Structures Requiring Retrofitting, Common Causes of Structural Deficiencies, Retrofitting vs Reconstruction, Principles of Structural Rehabilitation, Roles and Responsibilities of a Retrofitting Specialist.

Module 2: Structural Assessment and Diagnosis: Visual Inspection and Preliminary Evaluation, Non-Destructive Testing Methods (NDT), Load Capacity Assessment, Identifying Material Degradation and Cracks, Seismic Vulnerability Assessment, Structural Health Monitoring Techniques.

Module 3: Retrofitting Techniques for Buildings: Jacketing of Columns and Beams, Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Strengthening, Base Isolation and Dampers for Seismic Retrofitting, Crack Injection and Grouting, Use of Steel Bracings and Shear Walls, Roof and Foundation Strengthening.

Module 4: Retrofitting of Infrastructure and Utilities: Bridges and Flyovers Rehabilitation Techniques, Retrofitting of Water Tanks and Silos, Strengthening of Pavements and Tunnels, Utility Network Rehabilitation (Water, Gas, Electrical), Fire and Life Safety Upgrades, Accessibility and Code Compliance Improvements.

Module 5: Materials and Technologies in Retrofitting: High-Performance Repair Materials, Advanced Composite Materials, Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Retrofitting Products, Use of BIM and Simulation Tools, Equipment and Tools for Retrofitting Works, Innovations in Retrofitting Technologies.

Module 6: Project Management and Case Studies: Planning and Budgeting for Retrofitting Projects, Regulatory Approvals and Permits, Quality Control and Safety in Retrofitting, Documentation and Reporting Practices, Case Studies of Successful Retrofitting Projects, Challenges and Solutions in Retrofitting Execution.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
