Course Name: Certificate in Carpentry

Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/C/CC/V1

Eligibility: 10th (High School) or Equivalent.

Duration: Three Months.

Objective: The objective of the Certificate in Carpentry course is to provide participants with comprehensive training in the essential skills required for carpentry work across residential, commercial, and industrial construction. The course covers blueprint reading, material selection, measuring, cutting, joining, framing, formwork, finish carpentry, and installation of doors, windows, cabinets, and trim. 

Get ready to join the Journey to become a GSDCI Certified Professional  – International Certification and Assessment Body.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Carpentry: Overview of carpentry and construction, Roles and responsibilities of a carpenter, Types of carpentry (rough, finish, formwork), Reading and interpreting blueprints, Basic carpentry terminology, Safety practices and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Module 2: Tools and Equipment: Hand tools and their uses, Power tools and operation, Measuring and marking tools, Tool maintenance and safety, Equipment for cutting, shaping, and fastening, Proper handling and storage of tools.

Module 3: Materials and Fasteners: Types of wood and engineered wood products, Properties of different materials, Selection of fasteners (nails, screws, bolts), Adhesives and sealants, Material handling and storage, Environmental considerations in material use.

Module 4: Framing and Structural Carpentry: Layout and measurement techniques, Floor, wall, and roof framing methods, Installation of beams, joists, studs, and rafters, Use of connectors and braces, Building codes and structural standards, Inspection and quality control.

Module 5: Finish Carpentry and Installation: Installation of doors, windows, cabinets, and trim, Surface preparation and finishing techniques, Molding and decorative woodworking, Cabinetry basics, Staircase construction, Repair and maintenance of finish carpentry.

Module 6: Safety, Quality, and Communication: Jobsite safety protocols, Hazard identification and mitigation, Use of PPE and fall protection, Quality assurance and control, Effective communication on site, Documentation and reporting.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
