Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/C/CHVACA/V1

Eligibility: 10th (High School) or Equivalent.

Duration: Three Months.

Objective: The objective of the Certificate in HVAC Technology and Applications course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to correctly install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The course covers system components, installation procedures, ductwork layout, refrigerant handling, electrical connections, safety standards, and compliance with building codes.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to HVAC Systems: Overview of HVAC system types, Basic principles of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, Components of HVAC systems, Understanding refrigeration cycle, HVAC terminology and tools, Safety practices and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Module 2: HVAC System Components and Equipment: Heating equipment types (furnaces, boilers, heat pumps), Cooling equipment (air conditioners, chillers), Air distribution systems and ductwork, Controls and thermostats, Refrigerants and environmental considerations, Tools and equipment for installation.

Module 3: HVAC System Installation Procedures: Site assessment and preparation, Installing heating and cooling units, Ductwork layout and installation, Refrigerant line installation and charging, Electrical wiring and connections, System startup and commissioning.

Module 4: Ductwork Fabrication and Installation: Types of duct materials, Measuring and cutting ducts, Assembling and sealing duct sections, Installing registers, grilles, and diffusers, Ensuring proper airflow and balancing, Inspecting and testing duct systems.

Module 5: Safety and Compliance: Jobsite safety protocols and hazard awareness, Handling refrigerants safely, Compliance with HVAC codes and standards, Use of PPE and safe tool operation, Lockout/tagout procedures, Environmental regulations and waste disposal.

Module 6: Troubleshooting and Maintenance Basics: Identifying common installation issues, Basic system troubleshooting techniques, Routine maintenance tasks post-installation, Documentation and reporting, Customer communication and education, Preparing for certification and continuing education.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
