Objective: The Certificate in Marital and Relationship Support Skills course is designed to equip professionals with the theoretical knowledge, counseling skills, and psychological tools necessary to support couples and individuals in building healthier, more fulfilling relationships. The course covers core areas such as relationship dynamics, emotional intelligence, communication and conflict resolution, intimacy issues, pre-marital counseling, infidelity recovery, and family systems theory.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of the online assessment, the soft copy of your certificate will be sent to your registered email ID within 5 days.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Foundations of Marital and Relationship Counseling: Definition, scope, and objectives of relationship counseling, Theories of love, attachment, and relationship development, Understanding the role and boundaries of a relationship counselor, Types of relationships: premarital, marital, cohabiting, and blended families, Legal and ethical considerations in counseling couples, Cultural and societal influences on relationships.

Module 2: Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills: Patterns of healthy vs unhealthy communication, Active listening, empathy, and non-verbal cues in relationships, Identifying and managing communication barriers, Conflict resolution styles and negotiation techniques, Counseling couples through arguments and emotional outbursts, Exercises to improve emotional expression and understanding.

Module 3: Psychological and Emotional Aspects of Relationships: Impact of personality types, childhood trauma, and emotional baggage, Understanding intimacy, trust, jealousy, and attachment styles, Coping with emotional distance, neglect, or controlling behaviors, Addressing individual mental health issues affecting relationships, Handling anger, insecurity, and unresolved resentments, Helping couples build emotional safety and connection.

Module 4: Counseling Techniques and Intervention Models: Overview of major models: Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Imago Relationship Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for couples, Narrative therapy and role-play techniques, Designing structured sessions and homework assignments.

Module 5: Specialized Issues in Marital and Relationship Counseling: Infidelity, betrayal, and rebuilding trust, Sexual dissatisfaction and intimacy issues, Financial conflicts and parenting disagreements, Divorce, separation, and post-divorce adjustment, Supporting couples with infertility, illness, or caregiving stress, LGBTQ+ relationship dynamics and inclusivity in practice.

Module 6: Professional Practice, Ethics and Self-Care: Establishing a counseling practice and session management, Confidentiality, consent, and legal documentation, Managing dual relationships, boundaries, and ethical dilemmas, Working collaboratively with other professionals (e.g., therapists, legal advisors), Importance of supervision and case discussion, Counselor self-awareness, emotional resilience, and burnout prevention.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

• Duration- 60 minutes.
• Number of Questions- 30.
• Number of Questions from each module: 5.
• Language: English.
• Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
• Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
• There is no negative marking in any module.
