Global Occupational Skill Standard – GOSS ID: GOSS/HT/CGHS/V1

Duration: One Month.

Eligibility: 10th Grade (High School) or Equivalent is required.

Objective: The Certified Green Housekeeping Specialist course is designed to develop skills in performing housekeeping tasks using eco-conscious methods and products. The course covers green cleaning principles, use of non-toxic and biodegradable cleaning agents, waste reduction and recycling, water and energy conservation techniques, indoor air quality management, and compliance with environmental regulations and green certifications (e.g., LEED, Green Seal). 

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Green Housekeeping: Concept and importance of green housekeeping, Environmental impact of traditional cleaning practices, Benefits of sustainable cleaning in hospitality and commercial settings, Role and responsibilities of a Green Housekeeping Specialist, Key principles of eco-friendly housekeeping, Introduction to green certifications and standards (LEED, ISO).

Module 2: Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products and Practices: Types of green cleaning agents and their applications, Natural and biodegradable alternatives to chemicals, Reading and understanding eco-labels and safety data sheets, Dilution control and proper storage of green products, Avoiding harmful substances (phosphates, VOCs, chlorine), Procedures for switching from conventional to green products.

Module 3: Tools, Equipment, and Waste Reduction: Use of energy-efficient cleaning equipment, Reusable vs disposable cleaning materials, Proper maintenance and storage of tools to extend lifespan, Waste segregation and recycling techniques, Reducing water and electricity usage during cleaning, Best practices for linen and laundry sustainability.

Module 4: Green Cleaning Procedures for Different Areas: Sustainable cleaning methods for guest rooms, restrooms, lobbies, and public areas, Use of microfiber cloths and HEPA-filter vacuums, Cleaning high-touch surfaces without harsh chemicals, Deep cleaning using steam and ozone technologies, Safe handling of organic waste and compostable materials, Maintaining air quality and reducing allergens.

Module 5: Health, Safety, and Indoor Environmental Quality: Personal protective equipment (PPE) and its eco-friendly alternatives, Reducing exposure to toxic substances, Maintaining indoor air quality through proper ventilation, Preventing mold and mildew in sustainable ways, Ergonomics and safety practices for green cleaning staff, Responding to eco-related guest concerns and allergies.

Module 6: Monitoring, Documentation, and Communication: Creating and maintaining green cleaning schedules and logs, Tracking chemical usage and supply inventory, Reporting sustainability metrics and achievements, Training staff in green housekeeping protocols, Communicating green initiatives to guests and management, Continuous improvement through audits and feedback systems.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
  • There is no negative marking in any module.
