Objective: The Certified Knitting Technology Specialist course is designed to provide comprehensive training in the science, technology, and practical aspects of knitting used in the textile and apparel industries. The main objective is to enable learners to master various knitting techniques, understand fabric construction principles, operate and maintain knitting machines, and produce high-quality knitted fabrics for fashion, sportswear, medical, and technical applications.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 1: Select your certification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Click on get certified tab, new pop up window will open.

Step 3: Click on pay certification fee, you will be redirected to billing details page.

Step 4: Fill your details and click on pay certification fee, You will be redirected to payment gateway, pay fee by any available options like Card(Debit/Credit), Wallet, Paytm, Net banking, UPI and Google pay.

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Assessment Modules:

Module 1: Fundamentals of Knitting Technology: Introduction to knitting and its advantages over weaving, Classification of knitting (weft and warp), Loop formation and stitch structure, Comparison of knitted fabric types, Yarn properties suitable for knitting, Terminology and basic knitting principles.

Module 2: Weft Knitting Machines and Mechanisms: Types of weft knitting machines (circular, flatbed, V-bed), Components of knitting machines (needles, sinkers, cams), Needle types and their functions, Machine gauge, diameter, and settings, Fabric design capabilities and patterning mechanisms, Maintenance and troubleshooting of weft machines.

Module 3: Warp Knitting Technology: Overview of warp knitting principles and techniques, Warp knitting machines (Tricot, Raschel), Guide bar movement and lapping, Yarn threading and tension control, Comparison with weft knitting and industrial applications, Fabric defects and their remedies.

Module 4: Knitted Fabric Structures and Properties: Basic knitted structures (plain, rib, interlock, purl), Complex patterns and jacquard structures, Properties of knitted fabrics (elasticity, drape, air permeability), Fabric performance testing and quality standards, Influence of yarn and machine settings on fabric quality, Application-specific fabric development.

Module 5: Processing, Finishing, and Quality Control: Pre-treatment and dyeing of knitted fabrics, Mechanical and chemical finishing techniques, Shrinkage control, compacting, and calendaring, Common fabric defects (drop stitches, barre, holes), Quality control procedures and inspection methods, Use of testing equipment and documentation.

Module 6: Modern Trends, Sustainability, and Career Scope: Automation and computer-aided knitting (CAD/CAM), Smart textiles and wearable technology in knitting, Sustainable yarns and eco-friendly production, Innovations in seamless and 3D knitting, Industrial case studies and product development, Career roles and growth in the knitting industry.

GSDCI Online Assessment Detail:

  • Duration- 60 minutes.
  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
