Objective: The Certified Yoga Anatomy & Physiology Specialist course is designed to provide yoga practitioners and instructors with a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiological systems as they relate specifically to yoga practice. The course emphasizes the structural and functional aspects of the musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, nervous, and endocrine systems, and how these systems respond to various asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques.

Certification: Within 5 days after Completion of Online Assessment.

Steps to become a GSDCI Certified Professional:

Step 5: You will get Login Credentials of Online E-Books and Online assessment link on your email id, within 48 hrs of payment.

Step 6: After completion of online assessment, you can download your Certificate Immediately.

Module 1: Introduction to Yoga Anatomy and Physiology: Understanding the role of anatomy and physiology in Yoga practice, Overview of the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems, How anatomical knowledge enhances safe and effective Yoga practice, The relationship between body alignment and injury prevention, Key principles of movement (flexion, extension, rotation, etc.) in Yoga, The impact of Yoga on the body’s systems (musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous).

Module 2: The Skeletal System and Joints in Yoga: Detailed overview of the human skeletal system (bones, joints, ligaments), The role of bones and joints in Yoga postures and movement, Understanding the types of joints (hinge, ball-and-socket, pivot, etc.) and their movement limitations, How Yoga influences joint mobility and stability, The importance of joint alignment in preventing injury, Special considerations for common injuries (e.g., knees, hips, shoulders).

Module 3: The Muscular System and Movement in Yoga: Anatomy of muscles and their function in Yoga, Muscle contractions: concentric, eccentric, and isometric, How to engage muscles effectively in different Yoga postures, Muscle imbalances and their impact on practice and posture, Anatomy of the core and its role in supporting postural alignment, Working with flexibility, strength, and endurance in Yoga through muscle awareness.

Module 4: The Nervous System and Breath Control: Understanding the autonomic nervous system (sympathetic vs. parasympathetic), The role of the nervous system in stress response and relaxation, How breath and Pranayama influence the nervous system (breath to calm or energize), The role of proprioception and kinesthetic awareness in Yoga practice, Neural adaptation and the learning process in Yoga, The connection between nervous system health and mental clarity through Yoga.

Module 5: The Respiratory System and Pranayama: Anatomy of the respiratory system (lungs, diaphragm, trachea, bronchi), Understanding the mechanics of breathing (diaphragmatic, costal, clavicular breathing), How breath control (Pranayama) influences overall health and vitality, The impact of Pranayama on lung capacity, oxygenation, and detoxification, The physiological and psychological benefits of Pranayama practices, Breathing patterns and their effect on energy levels and relaxation.

  • Number of Questions- 30.
  • Number of Questions from each module: 5.
  • Language: English.
  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions.
  • Maximum Marks- 100, Passing Marks- 50%.
